I currently maintain accounts with Bank of America, Citibank Double Cash, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s American Express, Navy Federal, BECU, and First Tech Credit Union. I also have several Synchrony accounts, including Amazon, Chevron, Ashley, CareCredit MasterCard, and Walmart One Pay MasterCard, along with an account with Truist Bank and a few others. I was recently approved for the Rakuten American Express card. I previously had Capital One and Discover accounts but have since closed them.

As of today, I have zero inquiries on TransUnion and six inquiries on Experian, which will all be at least one year old by July. My current utilization is around 20%, and I’m working on paying down additional balances by the end of 2026. I’m very proud of the strong credit profile I’ve built and my goal is to qualify for both Barclays and Chase by then. Chase has already pre-approved me for auto loans and Home Loans several times, and I’m hopeful that once my inquiries age and my utilization improves further, I’ll also be able to secure one of their credit cards.

Focus on Chase.

I was approved for $25,000 unsecured personal loan with Navy Federal.  I had zero inquires on trans union and 739 fico score.  From the time from approval to funding was less than 12 hours.  I must say I think this was the most simplistic process I've ever encountered with any financial institution.

To round out the year I got denied again this morning by Discover, last CLI I got was to $10k on 8/30/24.  I guess that's where they think I should be and that's OK because I don't use that card much anymore although I have used it this quarter (and will next quarter as well as it's grocery stores.  Not sure if it's worth the hassle to switch over streaming services and then have to switch them back)

I don't know how many more CLIs I'm really going to request as I'm happy with all of them except for my two Citi cards (Double Cash and Costco Visa) which are both currently at $4000.  Looks like they will only give you 2x your current CL and it's a hard rule you have to wait 6 months to apply.  So it'll take me another year to get those over 10k but that's really OK, I can work around that by using other cards.

As an aside, I am in the process of going AZEO but I'm not seeing any score movement either on FICO 8 or VS3.0.  I was under 10% on all cards last month so maybe there's not much improvement to be had?  The last real bump I got was when I paid down my one Citi card from ~50% to just under 10%.  I have 4 more cards (of eight) to zero out I think and they all report within the next week or so.  Just set up two of the payments this morning as those two are reporting very soon.

I'm trying to get AMX to waive the annual fee for their gold card for the first year.  Does anyone have a backdoor number to American Express for new card approvals and/or had success with a fee waiver or reduction?  (I am not in the military so don't qualify for the waiver provided to active duty military.)  Thanks in advance.
