Discover It was $2000 opened 7/29/23 denied 11/3/23 (I know that was early but I did see reports of someone getting approved at 4.5 months so I figured no harm in trying) "INSUFFICIENT EXPERIENCE WITH CURRENT DISCOVER CARD CREDIT LIMIT" approved for $5000 2/15/24

Discover It Denied 5/15/24

HISTORY OF INCREASING BALANCE ON YOUR ACCOUNT

Discover It Denied 6/17/24

NUMBER OF RECENTLY OPENED REVOLVING ACCOUNTS AS REPORTED BY AGENCY

Discover It Denied 7/31/24

HIGH BALANCE ON YOUR ACCOUNT

BUREAU REPORTS INSUF. HISTORY OF DECREASE BALANCE ON NON-MORTG. TRADES

NUMBER OF RECENTLY OPENED REVOLVING ACCOUNTS AS REPORTED BY AGENCY

Discover It approved 8/30/24 for $10k

Discover it Denied 3/2/25 "INSUFFICIENT EXPERIENCE WITH CURRENT DISCOVER CARD CREDIT LIMIT"

3/31, 5/1, 5/31 (dates of letters, not sure when exactly I requested) "LOW USAGE ON EXISTING LINE OF CREDIT IN PREVIOUS MONTH(S)"

I guess they don't like my single digit utilization 😕  I might as well not even try this next quarter because it's gas & utilities which is useless to me so I may not even use it at all.

I honestly don't know if this was a fluke them pulling Equifax or if it truly works if you freeze the other two bureaus.

I'll caution folks here that you never trust Citi and Chase to pull just one credit bureau; they always double pull your reports. I can assure you by experience, Experian is the main bureau and is the dominant pull, combined with Equifax as the subdominant source.

FWIW in my limited experience, ALL of AmEx, Citi, Discover, and Capital One have pulled Experian.

Capital One and AmEx both pulled TU as well, and Cap1 pulled Equifax for the trifecta.

Oddly a while back I'd requested a CLI from Chase and they didn't deny me but didn't approve me either.  When I called they said it was because I had my reports frozen (not sure I understand that but OK) and I neglected to write it down but I think they asked me to unfreeze TU.  It wasn't a hard pull though.  (I've had the card for almost two decades, so I couldn't tell you who if anyone they pulled when I opened it; I had a mortgage and HELOC with them at the time)

Location dependent.

I do all CC apps with reports unfrozen (CLIs are different) and let them have what they want. I don't care about HPs.
Besides C1s triple pulls I have never had an EQ pull

How much usage do you put on your discover card monthly?

To be honest, I usually only use it if I want to park a balance there with a 0% balance transfer.  I had just paid off the balance and decided to give it a shot.  I generally won't use it as a regular card, as the rotating 5% categories I generally have a different card that will give me the 5% or more.

I'm surprised!  I got my last CLI with Discover Card four months ago from $500 to $1,000.

I pressed the button tonight and got increased to $2,500.  I honestly didn't expect this to be approved so soon.  Hopefully my next increase to $5,000 but doubtful.

Amazon store card just approved me to $3,000.  I started off with $300 in October 2023.  My last limit was $1,500.00  They doubled it.

I charge about $300 a month on this particular card and roughly a couple grand a month through Amazon on business cards.

I'll simply observe that this is a lot of new accounts in a short time span for a relatively seasoned profile, and (on the surface, it seems like) there are several cards with limited (if any) utility.

Obviously, I know little of your regular spend and how these cards mesh with it.  But, generally speaking, with an established profile, it's best to be more strategically focused.  Piling up dead wood isn't beneficial.

Chase Sapphire Reserve. 100k UR for $5k in 3months. $795 AF. Instant approval. Cold app. No theft of limits from other Chase cards. My 5/24 is more like LOL/24. After approval, I called Chase to have the card expedited.

CL-- $27,000.00

AF is not for the faint of heart. Chase recently changed the rules, and will now allow you to hold both the CSR and CSP. Getting the SUB depends on a few factors. Enough time and probably enough spend with Chase has allowed me to qualify for the SUB. DP are all over the place regarding approvals and denials and qualifying for the SUB.

Citi approved me for their Double Cash card.  I've been very apprehensive about applying with Citi because they're all over the board with which credit bureau that they pull.  While I have good credit on all reports, I have more inquiries on both Experian and TransUnion.  I only have one inquiry on Equifax.

I read somewhere that if you freeze TransUnion and Experian that Citi will pull from Equifax and that's what they did for me.

Truth be told, my Equifax report is much much stronger than the other two reports.  I have credit that is reporting to Equifax that's not reporting to any other Bureau. Therefore, I'm quite happy that they pulled Equifax.

What I did was freeze both TransUnion and Experian. Then I did the Citi credit card pre-qualify and it qualified me for two cards with both reports Frozen.

I was approved for $9,500 at 22% interest.  I'm very very shocked on the interest rate!

I honestly don't know if this was a fluke them pulling Equifax or if it truly works if you freeze the other two bureaus.  Regardless, I'm happy that I'm in with Citi!

I have Macy's and Bloomingdale's American Express cards that are joint accounts with my mom.  Both of those accounts have credit lines of $20,000 each and are issued by Citi.

My FICO Score is 745.

That’s actually insane, I should try doing the same. I was thinking about doing the same actually since I’ve had significantly higher credit on Equifax.

I was looking at all of the Creditors that pull Equifax from the CreditPulls section because I could do the same trick.

I’m at EQ8 775 EQ9 786 and my highest CL is only $1,500 - maybe worth a shot? I’m still trying to get in with Chase with their 5/24 rule and Amex

Savor One, was opened as a Quicksilver 7/12/23, CLI from $10k to $14.5k 2/21/24, PC'd to Savor One 5/10/24, denied 7/26/24

• Credit bureau information is missing or unavailable
• We were unable to obtain your most recent monthly payment data from the credit reporting agency

Requested $18k 8/29/24 was given CLI to $15,500

Requested $20k 12/23/24 was given CLI to $20k

Requested $25k 3/21/25 was denied.  "You recently requested a credit line increase for your Savor Credit Card. Unfortunately, your account
isn't eligible right now. We know this isn't the answer you were hoping for and we want to help you
understand why:
• The amount of spend on this account and a recent change to the credit line on this account"

Fair.  I haven't posted over $1k in a long time and usage is low currently as Discover is 5% on restaurants through the end of this month, I just asked on principle.  Still haven't broken $100k TCL yet though so trigger finger is itchy :)  I'm actually OK with $20k on this card.

Realized it'd been a while for this one, actually 7 months (I didn't set a reminder) so I hit the button just for shiggles.  Asked for $25k approved for $24k 7/22/25.

At what point do I stop pushing for CLIs?  I feel that this is quite appropriate for my income/expenses and is high enough it could be my only card if it had to be.  I now have three cards with >20k CLs, this being my newest (slightly over two years old, the other two are over a decade old.)

I'm actually now getting real close to the point where my TCL equals my salary, so that'll be the next milestone I guess.

(stuff) is getting real.

Just got pre-approved for a $500k mortgage (APGFCU) and my middle score is apparently 768 without optimization and with a 2 month old credit card on my report.  Also got pre-approved for $300k through Chase although their rates are higher.  (I only asked for $300k when I saw what the estimated payments were on 500k, I was correct in my assumption that I was overshooting)

I gotta say thanks for keeping me straight and making me understand what the right things were to do to get my credit built up for the long haul.  It's been a little over two years since I paid off all my debt and turned my attention to building credit and this really feels good.

I can't actually *afford* a $500k mortgage, but having that approval means I can go shopping now...  hopefully I can find something that I *can* afford.

On a roll so I tried another one I really don't need

Chase Freedom Unlimited was $18,400 opened 7/25/07 (don't remember what my original CL was obviously) approved for $22k 3/4/24

approved for $25k 11/19/24 after unfreezing TU

tried again a few days ago, got a letter this AM to call so I did, had to unfreeze TU again, now I am at $26,500

looks like they're getting tired of extending me more credit but this is just gravy really.

Got to wait until November until I can get CLIs on my Citi cards which are the ones I really need

Any input when I might get one on my BCE?  I just got my second statement on the 4th.  That one's $10k so not bad but it'd be better with a higher limit.

AmEx BCE opened 6/4.  Finally got the ability to request CLI this morning, approved $10k to $20k today.  94 days after opening (not 91, I've been checking every day since I knew I was hitting that milestone)  I know people say ask for 3x but I wanted to make sure I got it, and 30k still wouldn't have got me below 10% util (but either got me below 20%)  did I mess up?  I dunno...  anyway I got it, only frustrating thing is it just reported two days ago but hey I'm getting there right?

Got denied by Discover again a few days ago, although I haven't used the card in over two months so possibly understandable.  It's now my lowest limit card save for the two Citi cards ('cause I done pissed them off a little less than 8 years ago.)

Really need to get my Citi cards up but can't request again until November.

Only other action items now are to call Discover in a few days as it'll have been 6 months since I requested an interest rate decrease.  My only other card that isn't at or below the advertised minimum is the BCE which I'm not sure if it's worth messing with as I have a 0% APR promo until 6/4 of next year.  Thoughts?

Finally, even though I got a small raise last month, this now puts me over 100% of salary for my TCL.  So I got that going for me :)

See, I was logged onto US Bank the other day to make an payment on my Platinum Visa, which I totally thought had a $19,000 limit but it showed yesterday as having a $24,000 limit.  I remember getting something in the U.S. Mail a few years ago when they were pleased to notify me that the limit was being moved from its original $15K to $19K but I don't think they notified me of the jump to $24K.

No complaints obviously; it's still mildly frustrating that the card has no rewards.  I buy a sandwich with it from time to time just to keep them happy.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm, sandwich...
