NFCU CLI Request - Denied

Requested a CLI for my NFCU cashrewards on the website, it went to get reviewed and was denied the next day. I currently have $5000 CL and have about $600 of a balance on it and I requested a CLI.

I was under the impression that you could request a CLI every 91ish days and that was the waiting period. But then looking again through forums after being denied I saw that it might be 180 days instead.

I was automatically CLId from 3500 to 5000 about 5 statements/billing cycles ago.

Im currently waiting on the letter in the mail.

If its the 180 day waiting period that caused me to get denied should I wait until the next billing cycle/the one after that to apply again? Or 180 days after I got denied?

Also kind of irrelevant but not sure if it changed but some people said that they were able to ask how much they wanted to be increased by but I had to just put my current income  and they would decide the increase. Not sure if that means anything🤷‍♂️

Credit card decline letters can be related to Navy Federal internal score issues (from 100 to 450), don't worry if your score is low because this credit union is built on relationships, and building a good relationship is a must if you are applying for credit card products and seeking credit approval with high starting limits.

The main reason new customers are rejected is their DTI. Keep working on lowering your DTI, getting DD, savings/checking, and anything else you can do to improve the relationship, then try again.

After 185 days...

If I were you, I would apply for a second credit card first, then request a credit limit increase on my current card (up to $8000 per request). Good luck!
