supern8ural
Subject says all... I just realized that my one derog is within 6 mos. of falling off, so there's a chance that at least TU will do it. However it doesn't appear that there's any kind of "free account" available on their web site. Do I have to call them? Or should I pull another report from freecreditreport.com is there a way to enter a dispute while my reports are "live" on my screen? I really would like to see my credit all shiny, but I *hate* sitting on the phone waiting for a representative. If that's what has to happen though... Same basic question would apply for Experian and Equifax although I haven't tried them yet as from searching it appears that you may have success Equifax 1 month before it'd naturally fall off, Experian 3 months and TU 6 months is that correct? I do have a free Experian account.
Admin MarvBear Posted August 22 Admin Share Posted August 22 Credit Bureau Stale Removal Dates TU will remove 6 months early. EX will remove 2 -3 months early. EQ rarely removes early.
supern8ural
OK I think I figured it out. TU's web site wasn't playing nice with Firefox; tried it on Chrome and I was able to successfully enter a dispute. I will report back with the exact method I used if I have success. Edit: I forgot to mention, Credit Karma is not showing the late payments on either TU or Experian. But I never got a score bump... will pull my full reports in a bit, it's been a while. supern8ural
Lates are showing on the full reports... I guess CK isn't accurately reporting stuff. Now I feel bad for recommending it as an easy way to monitor Ex & TU
supern8ural
Welp. What I saw online was that TU would EE "almost immediately" if you disputed as too old and then in the comments said something like "This is not a dispute, I am requesting early exclusion, please and thank you." I did it on my lunch break Thursday, and it's now Monday evening... not real promising

This is ironic because I couldn't figure out why TU wouldn't work for me at all (didn't even let me log in). Tried both Chrome and Brave, both the same issue... which makes sense considering they use the same engine. Ended up trying Safari and now I can use their site. CITICARDS CBNA 5800 SOUTH CORPORATE PLACE SIOUX FALLS, SD 57108 Not the end of the world as it should fall off but I really would like to see some progress as even though I've DONE a lot of stuff re: my credit over the last 13 months or so, my scores have really remained stagnant - FICO always in about 730-740 range depending on whether I'm spending organically or optimizing (right about 7 mos. after I opened two cards, I went AZEO before asking for CLIs. I don't know whether that helped or not, but I got them...) I just don't know what I did wrong here... I did what the info I'd read says, which is dispute the account, reason "too old" then in the comments section say you're asking for early exclusion, please and thank you which is what I did. Odd thing is everything I read says they'll do it 3-6 months out; I didn't realize until recently that they have my DoFD as October 2017 (Exp and Eq have it as January 2018 which I believe is correct) which is why I pulled the trigger. Ah well it is what it is. I can wait another couple months, I just don't want to...
supern8ural
So as I said before while Experian and Equifax think DOFD is January (and I believe that to be correct, although at the time I was completely blenderheaded due to other stuff going on in my life so I'm not 100% certain) TransUnion has it as October 2017. At what point can I expect to see this fall off my credit report? I'm really anxious to see some progress as I've now had two rounds of CLIs on all the new accounts I've opened but my scores seem to be stagnating around 730 (FICO) or 760 (VS3.0) which is right about where they were last year when I paid off all my debt. I should only have two HPs actually affecting my scores now and both of those on Experian. Not sure why but VS3.0 went up 19 points this month is that due to the HPs? saw no change in FICO. I did get another Citi card but that hasn't hit my reports yet only the HP; I haven't got my first statement yet. I know it's just a number but I'd really feel so much better if I felt like I'd made progress... Sidebar question: how do you PC a Citi card? Do you have to call them? How likely are they to do it? Would like to change my Diamond Preferred to something useful. (well, as useful as a card can be with a $500 CL)
hdporter
Cuti should be able to offer guidance on a possible PC for your card. Just remember, where a card has a desirable SUB, it's best to apply cold and not PC. You're not eligible for a SUB when you PC into a new card. I already did that maybe a month ago, got a shiny new Double Cash... also with a $500 CL 😕 So I'm not going to waste another HP on them until I see some sign that I'm back in their good graces. The rate I'm going I'm probably going to hit the limit in a little over a week of regular use. Woulda been a great catchall card had it had $5K or higher CL Edited September 16 by supern8ural
supern8ural
While I was at lunch today I got a notification from Wallethub that my credit score went UP (surprising to me because I've got two low limit cards that I'm running up, and just got a new card a little over a month ago)... apparently my one derog dropped off of TU and now my TU VS3.0 is 798 (was 737). I know that don't mean squat but it does make me feel good. Looks like I can't check FICO 8 until Discover updates later this week... I'm anxious to see the results. Not enough to pay for another 3 bureau report though. Unfortunately it looks like Experian and Equifax wont drop that derog until January, I think TU actually had the DOFD wrong but I'm not going to argue with them. I will ask for early exclusion from Ex and Eq in December just because I'm impatient. On 9/16/2024 at 3:42 PM, hdporter said: Cuti should be able to offer guidance on a possible PC for your card. I posted elsewhere, I PCd the Diamond Preferred to a Costco Anywhere Visa. That will actually be useful to me (if I can ever get a CLI) and there's no SUB so to me it was a sensible move. I've already used it, I gassed up the other morning on my way to work. Edited October 3 by supern8ural
supern8ural
Man I'm getting anxious. Discover last updated my TU FICO 8 on 9/6; today is 10/7 and it's still showing the old score (714) I really want to see some success here. It's actually Discover that is dragging my score down due to high util (still at 40-something % even though I got a CLI) but I will pay it off next month because my 0% APR promo expires. *Admin prohibits insults that reference an individual's intelligence.* cars cost so much money... (This is why I can't justify pulling another full report from MyFICO - I need all the $$ I can get right now to stay on the right path. I just hope I don't have to pull from savings.) supern8ural
I actually failed, it's now 7 years since they consider DOFD so it fell off naturally. I actually think it's January (which is what both Experian and Equifax think) but I'm not arguing with them. Still no FICO update from Discover...
