Collections account out of nowhere....can't figure out where

I'm having a weird issue.  I subscribe to MyFico and get the quarterly credit reports from them.  Just last week I received an alert that my credit score had dropped about 95 points.  Upon looking into it, I have the following tradeline reporting ONLY via Equifax:

• Account Number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX1111 (only last 4 given)
• Original Lender: Blank
• Agency Name: 613YC00000
• Date Assigned 10/2022
• Original Balance: $(amount)
• Current Balance: $(amount)
• Responsibility: Individual
• Status: Unpaid
• Comments: Medical

 

Upon seeing this, I immediately went to annualcreditreports.com, pulled my reports but didn't see any collections accounts.  Additionally, I called Equifax to inquire if this could possibly be because of a "split file"....but after looking into it, they said that is not the case.

 

Needless to say, MyFico just said to contact Equifax as they only get information from the CRA's.  

 

Not quite sure where to go from here.  I've been looking through my bills and receipts trying to figure out what this charge is, but I cannot find anything that correlates to it.  Any advice on where to go from here?  Thank you!

Sounds like MyFico is giving you bad information.  I've had that happen with CreditKarma.

 

Also, "Original Lender: Blank" is a huge red flag for some kind of inaccurate reporting. 

 

But again, if it's not on your FACTA reports, it's probably a mistake of MyFico.

I’ve had a similar situation—a mystery collection popped up with no prior bill or notice. First step: dispute with the CRA and demand validation from the collector. Sometimes it’s a billing error or old account revived by a debt buyer. Keep records of every letter and never call them directly. If it’s medical, HIPAA violations can also give you leverage.

I suggest you quit My Fico and file a complaint against them with your State's consumer protection agency-- you should also see if a consumer lawyer might take your case to sue them for defamation and fraud.

 

P.S. Ignore "embertmorton200" he is either an illiterate fool or a CA plant--obviously there is nothing to file against any CRA as there is nothing actually being reported.
