Dashing the hopes of a sales weasel

A couple of months back Mrs Vig’s beloved, and highly reliable Nissan Versa met its demise. She was rear ended. The car was totaled. 
 

So that means car shopping time. We’ve been looking. She wants another Versa. I’m fine with that. We are gonna buy new when the time comes. The price between new and something used with relatively low miles is minimal. It is what it is. 
 

Anyway. We were at one dealer. Naturally before we were barely out of my car, we were attacked with the usual dealership pleasantries. The look on the guys face when I told him to relax, and that our reports are on ice, was priceless. We are not desperate for a car. 
 

I may throw him a bone. Only because his finance manager is not a douche bag.

Tomorrow the plan is to buy a car. I also plan to put the down payment on my Amex Blue Business Plus card. I want the points. If the dealerships refuses to take my Amex, then it's probably by by Felisha. Off to somewhere else. I will mention it up front before we get down the meat and potatoes of pulling credit, etc.

 

For grins and giggles I called Amex this morning and told them about the upcoming large purchase, along with a dollar amount range I plan to hit the card with. Was told a heads up really wasn't needed, but they noted my account in case a fraud alert kicks off.

We got a car. 2024 Nissan Kicks. More legroom than a Versa.

 

Down payment was made on my Amex. This particular dealership will let you put the who car on plastic if you got the means.
