4+ years of application hiatus. I wish there is something that I like. so far nothing interests me...

PNC has a new 2% cash back on everything card. It is very similar to Wells Fargo's 2% cash back card except, well, PNC hasn't violated their customers the Wells Fargo has 😜

I just looked it up and it also is a Visa with no FTF which is appealing... I have two no FTF cards but they're MC (Cap1) and Discover.

Web site says "The applicant must be a PNC Online Banking user to apply online." but I have been considering getting another checking account anyway.  Not going to apply for anything for a couple months as I'm just hitting the 6th statement on my newer cards so now I'm going to try to get my scores up (drop my util, as opposed to what I've done the last few months which is max out the two cards I'm targeting) and then try to get some CLIs before I get any new credit.

In many states they offer a High Yield Savings account that is paying 4.65% with no min balance for that rate.

I've seen that, I don't really have enough saved to open another HYSA yet.  I already have one with Barclay's that I've been putting all my recent savings into.  I'm just nervous because I only have one actual checking account with BoA and I keep seeing stories about people inadvertently tripping fraud detection algorithms and getting shut down and am thinking having another checking account as a backup would be good.

  • 1 month later...

In preparation of my upcoming summer land usage rent bill (A.K.A. Property Taxes) I have been keeping an eye on high value SUBs

Tonight (morning) I found the Amex Marriott Bonvoy Business Credit Card with a $125 AF "Offer ends 03/20/2024"

5 Free Night Awards - each redemption level at or under 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy points after $8,000 spend within the first 6 months

Would have preferred a $6k to $7k spend but $8k still works fine.

No hard pull happened. Webpage spun for 5-10 seconds and said Approved!

$30K SL

I will say I wasn't sure I would be approved, and I SURE didn't expect a $30k out of the gate.

Nothing to brag about, just reporting: $2,500 CLI with Capital One totaling a meager $4,700 CL. Last year I applied for this card because I was drawn to the union identifier on the card. What a let down. They approved me for only $2K which was my lowest by far CL of all my cards. It is what it is.

Forgot to mention that both meager CLI’s did not result in any hard pulls. Though inquires don’t matter, I would have been a little torqued if Crap1 pulled my credit file.

Chase Amazon Prime

Gave me a $600 CLI two days ago. Be still my beating heart.

My Amex Marriott Bonvoy Business arrived today.

It sure seems like a cheap crackerjack box card. My cat Sylvesters Netspend card is cooler.

Going to try some "Amex Card Polish" on it to see if I can get some luster.

Capital One giving a CLI is braggable

I got one, 10K to 14,500 on my Quicksilver at about 7 mos. last week.  I was surprised at the opening CL alone as I've read that C1 is stingy, but I can deal with 10K let alone an easy CLI.  Guess they're really "inscrutable" not stingy.

I didn't post here because I'm going to be hitting up a couple more (Citi, maybe Chase, maybe my Macy's AmEx) in the next 2 weeks, will post a summary once they're all done and when I can confirm soft or hard pulls.

I now have a new goal although apparently I've actually met it already; wanted to have my average CL per card >$10K as I've read that that's the best for insurance rates, and holy hell my auto insurance is killing me, hopefully they do an AR soft when I renew next.  I've definitely gotten my credit way more in shape than it was 2 years ago, but my rates haven't gone down a dang bit yet.  Now I'd like to get all my non-store cards (I don't care so much about the Macy's) to a usable level; my Discover is borderline at $5K (but it's just had a fresh CLI) and Citi is useless at $500.

So, I checked for preapproval for the Apple Card today.
I have absolutely no use for the card so this was 100% out of curiosity of the credit limit they might offer.

The only reason I can think of I would want it is because the titanium card is sleek.

But this is far cooler for only $39 dollars.

Anyways, I was approved for the Apple Card.

$3,000 SL
24.24%

Pressing LUV buttans...

BOFA with the surprise bump from $37,100 to $40,000 (asked for $50k).

AMEX denied my BCP CLI (asked for $50k from $28k).

WF makes you call, and I don't wanna.  JPMC does the same last I checked.

NFCU is maxed out until I upgrade the card.

DSC said no this time.  Same for Apple/GS.

USAA wants hard pulls, and I am disinclined to acquiesce to their request.

Oh!  JTV/Synchrony went from $3750 to $5650!  Be still my beating heart!

It's really small and hard to find...

no seriously if you log into your account and then go to your credit card, there's a link below Card Details and above Next Closing Date

I have never hit it because my limit with them is over 30K, it's the one card I don't feel any need to increase

At least for the Chase Amazon Prime there is a "Request a Credit Limit Increase" under the "More" drop down on the website.

I have used it. Soft pull.
