Changing jobs - need new vehicle - better financing before or after job change?

After a little over 9 years, I'm changing jobs in the near future.  New job pays the same, but much lower stress.

 

One thing I need for the new job is a 4x4 pickup.  The new job will frequently take me into muddy fields and up rough mountain roads, where high clearance is required.  (My current vehicle is a car that would get stuck in the mud and wouldn't make it up the mountain roads at all.)

 

My question is, should I buy the new truck before changing jobs, or does it even matter?  My credit score is around 775 currently, and income is around $135k.  Looking at $52k truck with trade-in valued at $16k.  

 

Do lenders look at length of employment if your credit is good?  If so, how much does it factor in?

can you pretend you have a payment for the truck now and put that $$ in savings. having a larger down can help a lot although assuming the new job is in the same field I doubt there will be much concern especially with prime FICO scores.

Payments are no issue.  We finished paying off my wife's car a few months ago and currently have no debt except our home.

I was planning to put around $5k down, along with the $16k trade-in.
