Hello there I am new to this board,

I have been going around the forum but I am kind of lost, there is just too many information, it would be great if you could direct me to forums that can help me. And bear with me this is all very new to me.

I have 2 collections from rental properties that have been on my account for 2 years and they are greatly affecting my credit (Speaking 18k). Anyhow a couple of months ago I contacted the debt collectors (Big mistake I realize that now 🤧) I wanted to pay the debts off because I cant get a credit card or rent an apartment. But they wouldnt negotiate with me on a good number so I didnt proceed with paying.

Anyhow, after that I disputed the collections with the 3 credit bureaus, TransUnion  and Experian removed the collection but not Equifax they were able to verify. On one of the collections I have a comment "account previously in dispute – now resolved by data furnisher" I dont quite get that part.

Anyways, heres the catch I didnt have a social security number back when these collections where created (I was international) I just got mine a year ago, so I think that should be used against them?

How can I remove these collections -- please help! And since I contacted them recently does that mean I wont be able to dispute the collections?

Thank you!

And you would be wrong.  A social security number is one of MANY ways that an account can be linked to a consumer.  Now that you have one it merely confirms they are reporting on the correct consumer.  There is nothing to "use against them."

There are 2 major collection agencies that most corporate rental companies use for defaulted balances and neither does pay for delete and they will not reduce the balance owed.  Only the property you owe money to can do that.

Removing valid accurate information because you can't get a credit card or another lease after defaulting for a large amount of money on previous lease(s) isn't a basis for removal.  Short of pay for delete or waiting for the 7 years for it to drop off it will stay.  Once you disputed and it was verified it pretty much cemented the information to your report(s).  Further disputes will likely be labeled frivolous by the bureaus.

I suggest that you follow the directions here:

https://whychat.me/GUIDEBOOK.html

Once you have all your reports (get mailed paper reports--not on line) you can see what is possible to get your reports cleaned up. Check carefully for errors-- in your case make sure ONLY your correct ss # is reporting on all 3 reports and that there are no other errors. DO NOT do anything by phone or on-line as those actions are not handled by Stateside customer service reps but are automated and processed offshore. Once you have opted out, corrected errors and deleted old addresses you will be in a better position to get those accounts deleted. Respond in THIS thread and PM me to let me know you have posted.

@CreditSucksNot They are accurate information, but its a very unfair system. One of the collections is supposed to be 1800 but after taxes and interest rate it went up to 5k + they refuse to provide me any proof that they will remove after I pay, they want to me to "trust" their word.  and the other one I had a roommate and I agreed to pay 50% but they would only remove if I pay 80% which is quite ridiculous.

Some rental companies have been in serious legal trouble for extortion and other crimes regarding their activities especially regarding immigrants. Please send me a PM (private message) with the name and address of the rental company. Do you have any copies of any lease you signed??

There has never been and never will be empathy and compassion in matters of banking and finance. If there was, credit and access to it, would be costly for everyone. Tables were flipped and people flogged over 2000 years ago as a warning to tread lightly.

With that said, follow WhyChat's directions.
