Discover offers $200 secured credit card with a Fico of 790, 50K in credit limits and 1% utilization?!

Eight years ago, when I applied for the Discover It card, they used Equifax as the primary agency for your credit, which is what people have been saying for years; they pulled Equifax.

While Discover lets people view and monitor their credit reports for free, the reports provided are issued by the Experian credit bureau. You don't need to be a Discover cardholder to access Experian reports. (Access program was canceled last year)

Now, if you are a Discover cardholder, you have the right to view TransUnion's monthly reports.

As for this new information about Discover pulling Experian brought by @RehabbingANDBlabbing, I've heard such a fact brought up by others, and no one has refuted the data.

I would add that Discover is uneasy and nervous about new applicants and asking for a 4506-C after card approval.

Just wanted to provide an update. I tried again today (out of curiosity, as stated previously I have no interested in a Discover card) and was immediately offered two cards with 0% APR, I think it was for 12 or 18 months, I only glanced at it. So they obviously like me again. They did not list any credit line amount, I do not know if that is typical. Anyhow, it just goes to show the weird algorithms these places use. A person in this thread guessed that in the instance I reported a month ago, they saw all my balances go to zero, and their algorithm incorrectly guessed I'd gotten some type of loan to pay them off. I like that theory.

I was going to reply that Discover used to like thin files, but it seems like you do have a thin file, so maybe that has changed, too.

Or maybe the CRA update with the balances back down to 1% with some time in between did help. It is not easy to understand what drove the outcome!
