Apped my passport on February 27th; once I have it in hand I shall see where the nifty airfares might lead me.

 

Got my eye on Ireland and also Vienna.

all of @hdporter's talk of cruising has me looking at my first ever cruise; probably somewhere sunny with boat drinks. I still fear it will be like going to walmart but without the ability to leave but one must face their fears from time to time to live a full life.

Trust me, if you pick a ship with the right amenities and absolutely impeccable service, the opportunities to explore off the ship at port of call start diminishing in attraction! 

 

The day I feel incredibly pampered in a Walmart that's open 24 hours may be the day that we sell our home and take up residence!  🤩

I had a dream about Botswana and after reading more (while awake) about it I now want to go. It has been a democratic republic since independence (1966) and has amazing natural sites to see.

more like 5 walmarts you can leave... A vessel that’s set to be the world’s biggest cruise ship has completed construction at a shipyard in Finland and has made its first foray into open water for sea trials ahead of likely delivery in October this year.

We're cruising from Boston to Quebec City the first week of October.  Booked in the spring with an intent to be a "fall colors" tour, prospect for peak coloration is diminished should temps continue to run warm this coming month.

Well, Bev and I are in a bit of a pissy mood Tuesday ... had to call and cancel this cruise, which departs Friday.  Bev has experienced Covid/flu symptoms since the 17th.  Based upon past infection experience (vax's not withstanding, we're both 3x losers on the Covid front) we fully anticipated the illness would run its course and she would be sufficiently hale for embarkation on the 29th.

 

Unfortunately, as of today, she's still suffering modest fever/chills, as well as continuing nausea, and sharply reduced appetite.  Troubling is that she's also suffering lightheadedness when on her feet for more than 5 minutes, to the extent of starting to black out if she doesn't immediately sit.  She's been in bed about 18-20 hrs a day, sleeping through about 14 hrs of that.

 

As an after-thought, ran a Covid antigen test yesterday, which was negative .. likely too much time passed since the symptom onset.  Thinking about going in for a PCR test, but that an issue logistically given her condition.  And, in any case, I'm not sure it matters whether this is a Covid or flu episode.

I seem to have booked a ticket to South Carolina for next February.

 

A minute later I got the confirmation email from Southwest, but the subject line, "You're going to Charleston on 2/22," made me wonder if that just means someone's going to force me to dance.  : /

I booked air travel to Memphis and Philly for the end of the month.  Very unlikely I'll take the trip, all things considered ... but, I have an air credit from a prior cancelled trip and AA assesses no penalty for cancellation (even last minute), as long as you're willing to take your airfare in the form of another credit.  So, why not lock in 21-day advance purchase fares?  (just in case)
