NFCU after Bankruptcy

Filed bankruptcy and its been discharged for 3 years. NFCU was one of the creditors and I discharged $525.  Last month I paid that balance in hopes of reestablishing a healthy credit relationship with them. I have >100k in various accounts. (Sold a house).  I've applied for a credit card via pre-approval and was only offered a secured card. 

 

Any advice on how I can get back in good graces?

TBH, I think it is silly to repay Navy in the hopes of getting back in with it even if it was only a few hundreds $$. There are so many other better creditors out there. That said, I hope you accepted the secured card as that is a good way to reestablish the relationship you seek.

I actually went ahead and applied for the Flagship card and was approved for $25,000. When I applied, I received and email saying I would hear in 5-7 days and got an email with the news in 3.

 

Thanks for your reply. My score is 680 and still trying to rebuild but the bankruptcy is still there. Haven't been able to get the better cards cause I'm not at 700+ yet.

So you got a denial (with an offer for secured card), and then a week later got approved, by the same lender (NFCU). Wait, what?? Something significant must have changed in that week!

I guess I should have mentioned I had $50K from the sale of a house in my savings account.  I have since got an AMEX NFCU for $25K as well.
