Hi

I have an address that I am trying to dispute as not mine.  It's actually some business address in another state that I don't live in.  When I try to dispute online it say to contact the creditor reporting it.  Has anyone had any luck disputing this or do I have to contact the creditor.  I have attempted once and they acted like they had no clue what was going on.  So.. Experian is saying they will not correct it or allow me to dispute it.. it has to be the creditor.

I searched and I didn't see any other topic for Experian and how to handle this situation 😕

I will look for someone to chime in to confirm/dispute what I write here, but my understanding is that it's difficult to remove an address that's linked to a reporting tradeline on your report.  Because you say Experian directed you to "contact the creditor reporting it", I assume that there is such a tradeline.

If this represents the situation, you'll have to pursue the correction with the creditor.  If there is no such creditor, you might try the dispute via their phone center.  (There are suggestions that this can be expedient for a prior address dispute.)

You left out key information. Why are you trying to delete the address? Is it a business that you are associated with that holds credit on your report? Is that tradeline derogatory in some way?

But you never dispute addresses online with EX. Always call. And if the associate says you need to contact the creditor, tell them you already did that multiple times a couple of months ago and they haven't corrected the issue. And if they still refuse, HUCA until you get an associate who will cooperate.

Thank you.... I called and did exactly what you suggested and they removed the address.  The address was linked to a commercial property in another state that I have no dealings with.

What trade line on your report is associated with the address?  Have you communicated with them IN WRITING? Was your dispute with EXP done online or did you submit a well-written dispute in writing?

And, it does not matter if you have no current dealings with the entity at the address...at the end of the day, have you EVER been connected to the address?
