FNBO?

I have a SD rebuilder card from 2015 with a $10k CL, that earns some sort of rewards. It gets a pencil purchase about every three months. I've had no issues with them.

My Amtrak cards from BofA are converting over to FNBO, end of next month. Those will get serious usage. I'm not expecting anything negative.

In the big picture FNBO is a decent size issuer of credit cards. Most of their cards are co-branded cards, and they also issue a lot of plastic for smaller banks and credit unions. It's their own cards that don't have much to offer, hence is one of the reasons you don't see a lot of discussion here or on other credit forums.

Concur with most...rewards are fairly meh on most of the cards they offer, but they will keep you plied with BT offers that are, sadly, also often meh.  Pre-pandemic, they were being consistent with a ~10% CLI around the time of the card anniversary.  I haven't seen anything since 2020, but then again, I am also not exactly showing the card much use.

The cards work better for some than for others if you got a program-specific card...I got it at a time where I was shifting to MGM properties for a lot of my Vegas play.  That shifted again when I began spending more downtown than on the center-strip properties.

My CLI experience has been better; they opened my account just 14 months ago at $11,300 and now it's $13,700 — with consistently light usage.  (I don't think I've ever put as much as $100 worth of spend on it at a time.)

You are putting more on yours than I have in the past two years...combined.

FNBO is actually pretty good.

They have a pre-qual tool that is fairly accurate.  They do not seem to mind INQs and new accounts, but they are averse to derogatory data on your credit reports.  They are pretty good with credit limits and CLIs, but usually max out around $40k per card.  I have two cards with them and one goes you a flat 2% cash back on everything.

My son applied as one of his first cards and they gave him $10k.

I had a FBNO card and was less than impressed. The website was particularly glitchy and often down. They seemingly prefer moderate to heavy card use and if you PIF, they won't provide decent offers.

What offers do you mean?

IME, they are good with CLIs up to around $40k, but higher than that they want to see quite a bit of usage.  The website isn't as robust as, say, Al Capone's, but it works and does the job.

At least I haven't see them pull the weak-minded 💩 that Stinkrony is famous for.

Again, concur.

The string of 4.9% life of balance bt's amuse me.  I figure such offers are a come-on to get you to revolve a balance so that all other card activity attracts finance fees.  (Still, if you're willing to shelve the card against further use, it's not a bad option as an alternative to other fixed rate options.)

Opened my MGM Rewards card Mar 2020.  Only use the card sees are restaurant and spa tips signed to the room (charges are comped, otherwise).  So rarely run more than $200 through in a month (frequently < $30), and with Covid and Bev's disability, statement months have been few and dispersed.

So I shouldn't be disappointed to consistently see the message displayed: "No accounts eligible for CLI" (or the equivalent) when I click on the "Request CLI" button.  I'm still at the $15k originally assigned to the account.

Taking a $3k cash advance on the card at the casino cage Jul 2021 didn't posture me any more favorably on the CLI front.  (FWIW, moderately adverse luck meant that I had run through my $20k credit line playing a promotion with a handsome % of wager rebate upon conclusion of play and needed a cash infusion to finish playing out my "target".  Nice thing is that, with casino tier status, the exorbitant advance fee was rebated by the cage.  I made an online payment the next day to kill interest accrual.)

Oof...opening the account just the world changed...it was the advent of 'rona and changes to banking practices that were when I stopped getting the annual CLI.  Prior to that, I could bank on ~10% each anniversary.  And I know that other message all too well...I've seen the same one too many times.

I had been tempted to apply for the Stations card to see if they loosened the purse strings on a fresh app, but I was even less likely to be at a Stations property than MGM of late.  A lot of the center Strip MGM lodging had been at Vdara during WSOP and related series or if I flew out just for a weekend of poker between Aria and Bellagio.  But those came mostly to a halt post-pandemic, especially as some properties did away with their poker series.  Net result is that the Mlife card just occupies space in the stack and I try to use it just often enough to see it not get closed...with no annual fee, it isn't worth closing but it is also not worth shifting a lot of spend to since the rewards aren't worth it at the moment...

I suppose that stream of 4.9% offers will be turning into 5.9-6.9% with the fed hikes...or the 4.9% will stay and the fee goes up.

Did those dolphins affect your critical thinking skills?

The message you received when you tried the online CLI function is the message I always received, too.  But anybody that has 1/2 a brain and been on CB for more than a few days knows that God invented telephones for a reason.

Calling them you would find that it's very easy to get a no-INQ CLI every few months.  Once you hit $30k, though, they send you to an underwriter, but still you will likely get your CLI.  I'm at > $40k o one card that way.  The second started at $15k and I bumped it to $25k.  I think I'll quit for now because they may look closely and see I do not use the card very much.

Always with the "dolphins", huh?  ;)

Just call me eternally naive.  I should know better, but I figure a rational site would advise, "Please call for consideration for a CLI", when appropriate.

Usually setting me on a more effective path are comments that advise when to call for a CLI on CB and myFICO.  Apparently, I've overlooked those re FNBO (assuming they've been posted).  mea culpa.

Yeah, dolphins.  They are a rather hot topic these days in the coin industry since the Royal Australian Mint just released their annual dolphin series coins.  I'd suggest Bev get one as a gentle reminder that she needs to clobber you more often.

There are numerous methods we have discussed on CB over the years such as HUCA, EO escalation and back doors ... all designed for those who do not like to hear the word "no".  Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Perhaps someone should start a CLI sticky, if there isn't one already.
