One of them needs to learns about cards that offer no foreign transaction fees. They both need better incomes, so they don't have to do 50/50 deals.

You’re on an international vacation and worried about an expense of little consequence? A taxi ride or two would probably be more. Relax and enjoy or vacation  at the local state park.

I'd use the opportunity to force them into cutting a deal with me.  I refer them to 2 different cards that they'd get approved for.

The real issue is that if you don't give her the few $$ she is looking for you will likely never get laid again.
