USAA Question

[127B]

What is the max credit card limit with USAA? I have the rate advantage set at $8500, but I want to see if it possible to go higher to help with DTI. Thank you on advance.

Welcome to Creditboards!

We hope that you find what you're looking for here.

Some helpful tips:

• Your post may not get a reply right away. Don't be discouraged, this is a very busy board. If it falls off of the first page, feel free to reply to your post yourself, with the word *bump* in the text. This will *bump* your post back up to the top of the board.
• If you haven't yet, take a peek at out Newbies Section. Everything that you need to know is in that forum, for the most part. It's a lot of reading, we know, but this credit stuff can have a steep learning curve. In no time, you'll be posting like the pros!
• If you find that someone is discourteous to you, use the REPORT button at the top right of every post - that will ensure that a moderator or admin looks at the post and decides if it is against the TOS.
• Off -topic posts should go in the General Forum.

Again, welcome to the CreditBoards family!

I'm unsure of the absolute maximum, but whatever it is depends on your credit, income, assets, etc.

I happened to join USAA just before they shut the door on allowing anyone alive to open a checking or savings account. Shortly afterward I opened a credit card account. My limit is $9,000. I forgot what the limit was when I opened the account, but it might be the same. I've never bothered asking for an increase.

They're pretty stingy w/ limits. They kept saying no to me when my card was 10k, so I closed it a few years ago. Their rewards weren't great at the time, so I didn't really mind kicking them to the curb. Not sure what they're like now. I do use them for checking and insurance still.

They will tell you when they feel you deserve a CLI. I've never received one in over a flawless decade with them, insurance/other banking products, and 800+ FICO 8 and 9 scoring.

I rarely use the card now.

Had usaa rewards visa for 5 years. Starting limit was 2k. Asked for cli on it last year hard pull got 5k.  Late night, last month,  few random apps (not advisable but worked out ok) apped for the usaa amex rewards SL 15k, was surprised.  I have checking savings and insurance.

when I was rebuilding I can the USAA amex with a 30k limit. The card and other banking products are overrated and I closed it years ago. If you want high limits, look toward chase, amex, BOA, and UNFCU.
