Approved for a Wells Fargo Reflect for $2500.  Normally I would be insulted, but I have an older $7500 limit VISA Signature with them, and a $25k AMEX Propel as well, so it's not a problem since they confirmed that they can and will reallocate limits around for me (need to do a big fat BT onto that Reflect).  So, gonna get home, call them with the Propel in-hand, ask for a CLI, then reallocate.

All this stemmed from Chase telling me no yuo to my Slate app, because of course I'm well beyond 5/24.  Also, the Discover BT offers were both 5%, so yeeeaaahh...noooo.

21 months will be nice, and gives me a chance to grind it down substantially. :)

Process is a bit slow, but moving along nicely.

Moved $2500 from VISA siggie to the Reflect, and was able to move 23.5k of the 25k total limit off the Propel AMEX onto the Reflect, for a total of 28.5k.

That should be enough headspace to BT 25k over, and soak up the 3% ($750) fee, and then I'll have 21 months of 0% so I can grind at it.  Just gotta wait for physical card, and then I call in (cannot do online per WF) and bing bang boom.

Just getting ready to close my snoozer Regions visa signature after a year at starting limit of $3000, $300 sub for 1000 spend. I log into my account and see auto cli to 11k. Guess keeping in the drawer with so many others for occasional spend 😁

Ooooh, I’m due for a CLI from them myself. I haven’t asked due to it being an HP, so it’s good to know they are still doing auto CLIs. I am actually taking mine on a trip with me. I was shocked to find that my 1.5% cash back Signature Visa from them also has no FTFs. Usually, cash back cards have FTFs.

Very cool!

3% fee against a 21 mo 0% offer is obviously a strong bt opportunity ...

Going back some time (maybe 10 years), there was discussion that a call to BA in advance of a large bt to request a fee cap would sometimes meet with success.  (Of course, at one time, a few issuers actually specified fee caps in the T&C ... this was after such provisions had been removed.)

I've never been motivated to try such an approach (I pretty much cap my bt's to $12k-$15k).  Against a $25k request, I wonder if there's any traction to be gained.  (Of course, WF would seem a "least probable" candidate.)

Yeah, at this point, I'm just glad I was able to find a sub 5% method at all.

Apple card from $5500 to $6000, lolololol

That's a total of $15.6k for the day of new limit, so not a bad piece of work.

I'll bother Chase later, since they'll almost undoubtedly say no, and will undoubtedly need me to have whichever card in-hand, and they're all at home.

And yeap, that officially puts me back over $310k total, after falling below $300k when I closed out all my Citi, Synchrony, Sears SYW, and Alliant.

Didn't even have to count my store accounts (JTV and RC Willey), nor my CLOC this time.  So a good day!  On to $400k...

Just got to share re my Macy's account, an account opened in 1986.

One of my oldest accounts on record.  Problem is, a few years ago, Macy's started CLD "dormant" accounts.  2nd problem is that as of about 8 years ago, I lost interest in shopping at Macy's (moved on to higher end products and also got tired of their every weekend is a new sale promotions).

So, I've gone a few rounds where my limit is knocked down, I then find a few things I want, put a $200-$300 order in, and then start requesting CLI's to boost back up.  Then I let it go dormant again (I'm talking 18-24 mo without a purchase).

Most recently, they dropped me back to $600.  So in Feb, I request a CLI to $1800.  I think they did a hard pull (uncertain, at this moment).  Then the system says they experienced a problem and gives me a number to call.  Didn't bother.   CLI ultimately came through without notice anyway.

So, tonight, in an idle moment, I request an increase to $3200.  Same problem notice, so I call (11:30p).  Definitely speaking with the "C" shift.  CSR relays info between me and an "account specialist" 3x over the course of 15 minutes.  I ask if there's a specific problem, and he says he has no specific info.  Finally, CSR comes back and says there seems to be a catch somewhere in the system that they can't figure out, but from what they see, the request should be approved.  He suggests submitting the request in 7-10 business days and it should go through.

One definite hiccup was apparent:  When I called, the system couldn't ID me from my last 4 digits, and instead used my SSN.  I received a notice generated by my online request that referenced a different 4-digit number set than my account number.  The online system page correctly displayed the actual account number digits.

I look back through my email notices from Macy's and see that since March, most have referenced the 4-digits as displayed in my most recent number.  There's no notice been sent of an account number change, and I haven't received new cards.

What a way to run a credit operation!

FYI You usually ask for 3x your credit limit with AMEX after 91 days of opening the card and then every six months afterwards until 40k+. Then you'll want to tweak it with the right numbers in order to keep under 4506 territory.  If they ask for 4506, you can do it, or cancel the CLI and try a lower number.

I don't understand the concern some have on avoiding the 4506-t.

Some have reported that the CLI request button has been removed from the AXP page.

I don't know if it just got hidden in a place where one might not typically look (sort of like they did with the FICO score, which is still there, but not in an intuitive location) or not, but I know I was not seeing it right away a moment ago.

I log into my account on my laptop enter "credit limit increase" in chat help . Pulls up link to enable request.  Been like this for me about a year. No sign of link f[r that long.
