How are you liking the Rakuten MR points situation? I look at it and I am tempted, but I just feel like the cash back is easier to manage. So do you get 2 MR points per dollar when they say it's 2% cash back? I can see that working out we'll because I do get good value from MR points. Or do they play with the ratio of MR points to cash back?

For me MR works out better than cash back. I can covert MR to Delta SkyPesos and other airlines. I can also convert the MR to Choice Privileges points. I can make MR points go further in my case.

 

With Rakuten you get 1 MR point for every penny $0.01. In other words $1.00 worth of earning converts to 100 MR points.

I have a company car with a company issued fleet fuel card (WIX). 99% of my driving is in that car. Not too worried about saving them a few pennies on fill ups.

 

One nice thing, is I have that fleet card linked to my Upside app. That earns me real cash back on each fill -up, on top of the AA miles.

 

If I could use my Citi Premier instead, I'd be using that for the 3x.
