cv91915
What does "manually entered" signify? I'm picturing someone at a merchant payment terminal eyeballing my card and punching in one card number at a time with an index finger. This is for a recent Hertz rental that I booked through Priceline. This was at a small Hertz airport location where everyone has to go the counter to get the contract / keys, but the guy only glanced at my DL and credit card to make sure it matched what was on my reservation. This is a card I use routinely for car rentals, and it's stored in my Hertz profile. This is on my US Bank Altitude Reserve, but I'm seeing this illogical notation (for the situation) on cards from other issuers also. This may have been happening forever and I just started to notice. TheVig
I've seen this recently, on one of my BofA cards. Don't recall the merchant though.

My only thought has been that it's to differentiate between a card number that was keyed into a merchant web site by me (vs. paying for the purchase with the card via a mobile wallet like Apple Pay). That logic seems flimsy to me, though. And I hate the term "mobile wallet," but that's another matter.
