debthunch - Scam or Scheme?

Received a letter from debthunch today telling me that I'm Pre-Approved! for $42,000 at 0%.  It also has a "Balance Reduction" of $12,600 that shows in their math.  Payments are $875 a month for 48 months.

Never heard of them, but do you really believe it would be wise to send your personal data to an entity sending you an unsolicited letter that has you asking whether they are legitimate?

FYI, no one is going to lend you $42,000 at 0% for "debt consolidation."

Oh I know that, I'm just curious how this works behind the scenes.  I wonder if this is one of those "stop paying your bills and when you get to 90 days past due we will call and negotiate a debt reduction for you" things that trashes your credit.

Wow, I didn't know the "stop paying your bills" guys were still around. As for Debthunch, have you clicked the "See My Offers" button?

I wouldn't necessarily mind the soft inquiry, but all the automated phone stuff doesn't seem to bespeak high quality lending.

Yea, when I saw the fine print about "our Debt Consolidation Partners will call you" I decided that my curiosity didn't extend that far and I decided to ask here.  For S&G I decided to click on the list of Debt Consolidation Partners.  Turns out debthunch will sell your name and phone number to 32 different partners!

 

FWIW, I also did all my searching using a private browser - no telling what wonderful items would make it into my cache and cookies file.
