Absolutely not!  If you can convey a statement (of any sort) each time you hand your card over, transactions would be empowered!

If the HSBC card had an embedded hologram so that it appeared that the lion turned it's head when you angle the card, I'd go for it in a heartbeat (HSBC misgivings set aside!!)

Yep. You'll probably need to move to Brazil. The app only being in Portuguese shouldn't be a problem. Plenty of translation websites in case you do relocate.

Yesterday I bought one whole share of NU for $9.75 I'm now losing my shirt. It's down to $9.40.

Me or NU Bank? If it's me, everybody do their part by moving to Brazil and opening an account. Thanks. 😉

By the way I bought the one share to try out Cash App, that I opened a few weeks ago. I'm a sucker for these payment services that offer a debit card. Cash App also offers a brokerage account component allowing fractional share purchases for as little as $1. My NU purchase was for $10 of a $9.75 stock. This is how I'm heading to the poor house.

I was joking about you going bankrupt over a $10 loss.

In reality, however, I fully expect NU Bank to go bankrupt sooner rather than later. I also expect they will be joined by SoFi. I have very little faith in FinTech. I'd believe Thanos before I believed any FinTech drivel.

I just used my HSBC card. It's more of a silver color, but otherwise looks like that. In a couple months HSBC will be sending me packing to Citizens Bank. My HSBC accounts will be closed and transferred. The only way for me to stop that is become a Premier customer with at least $75K on deposit. Not doing that. It will be interesting to see what accounts HSBC will open, once the bail-out from U.S. peasant banking is complete.

My HSBC accounts will remain with HSBC ... at least until I no longer find any value in remaining a Premier client. Even then, we are looking at mortgages and if we go with HSBC then we will remain Premier for the next few decades.

My understanding is that HSBC will not open any new accounts for people unless they immediately meet the Premier threshold. This is what they are doing in at least some of their overseas branches as well.

I do agree that the HSBC credit card is very good looking. IIRC, they have a silver one, a gold one and a black one. All look cool. Are they worth $75k? That is highly debatable.

P.S. This isn't the first time HSBC pulled this stunt. They did this about 10 years ago, too. They closed all accounts except for Premier and sold their credit card portfolio to Capital One. Thank God for that!!!! My now $100k+ CapOne used to be a $1,200 HSBC (Orchard Bank).

Well, ok, not just thank God. Also a huge thank you to Mr. Juggalo.

One thing you can be sure of, Citizens will screw it up. They are emoji90.png.

I went to the Citizen’s site. Their card art is really uninspiring. Card earns 1.8% CB. Bean counters over there are obviously tighter than a richards hat band, when they couldn’t just make it a even 2%.

My only experience with Citizens was applying for one of their credit cards about a year ago. The underwriter I dealt with was a humongous piece of .

They insisted I provide a copy of my military ID. I have no qualms about proving employment, but there's the pesky little issue that making an image of a military ID is a felony. The wench didn't care. They refused any substitute such as a copy of orders, a military drivers license, a pay stub (LES) or a W-2.

But I did get revenge.

As it happens, I do make a statement...of sorts...when I hand over my card.  It may not be the sort of statement you are likely to see in any credit card commercials, however.

After fumbling through several pockets for the wretched thing (which may take some time),  a quick, furtive glance about is followed by my handing the card du jour to the clerk in a diffident, near-apologetic manner.  Any last vestiges of goodwill on the part of the clerk toward me are swiftly destroyed by my directing my gaze floorward, ceilingward, back at the queue of now-mystified people, etc.  Anywhere but at the clerk.

In short, I have a marked tendency to hand over my card in such a way as to give the person to whom I am handing it every reason to believe the card has been stolen.

I realise this thread is about the best-looking card, but the most impressive card to my mind, at least, is one that would render the bearer invisible.

(I expect it would impress a fair number of other people, too.)

The good old days.  Perhaps a CBer could put together an update of that commercial for 2022?

Picture: a Platinum cardholder lurching into a Walmart to purchase a bag of crisps, only to have the card declined.

(I suspect the editor could insert footage from the cantina scene in Star Wars to reflect the Walmart shopping experience and no one would be the wiser.)

Not an actual credit card, but I added my name to the Curve card waiting list, when they start issuing cards in the U.S. If the preview image for the card is correct, I think the black/red/white kind of striped design looks cool.

Curve combines multiple debit and credit cards through its app:

About two weeks to go. You should be getting their dark green cash back card before Citizens takes over.

I think the card was only $20 then, without all those other versions that cost thousands per year. I'm impressed the card let you drive your rental car on airport taxiways, right up to your plane, with no need to even return it.

I'm going to guess once they accept U.S. customers, they'll be using a U.S. bank with an online PIN for the chip.  In Europe, it's what the Europeans do.
