cv91915
Has anyone attempted a CLI from Barclays recently? If I aim too high will they reject the request, or just counter with a lower number? I'm trying to decide how much to ask for. Background: Barclays hasn't given me an actual CLI since 2016. The two most recent increases in the limit on my Aviator Silver have been the result of closing other Barclays cards (first the Sallie Mae card when it got devalued, and then the Arrival+, which has always been a bona fide turd that I only opened for the SUB). The response to every CLI request in recent years has been a denial for not enough usage... even when it's been exercised vigorously, at least compared to the average consumer. And the last time I applied for a Barclays card they declined me, and even refused to move some of my existing credit line to the new card so they wouldn't even be extending me more credit. They do not like me for some reason. We've put ~$30k on this card in the past ~30 days, so I figured "It's now or never, Barclays." pacemaker67
TheVig
Sorry. Can’t help. Other than I plan to move my CL from my Cash Forward over to the Choice Privileges. Only reason I haven’t done it yet, is because I’m too lazy to make the call.

nemo
This isn't recent but the same principles should apply. When I was asking for CLIs from Barclays, I asked for what I actually wanted. When that was too high, they would reject it, and I would call to recon. Usually I would be approved on recon. Also, recon provides an opportunity to negotiate the amount. nemo
After letting it stew a while, I recalled some additional details. * In my case, pre-pandemic, a 10% CLI would usually be approved without recon. * When I would call for recon, they played this funny game where they asked for two numbers: 1) What increase are you requesting? 2) What is the minimum increase you will accept if you can't get what you are asking for? They often gave me what I was asking for, and if not, usually something in between. Stating a minimum did not hurt me. I cross my fingers to that. It's a partner relationship issue, You spent $30,000 and paid off the debt recently. They liked it. Barclays makes money by swiping cards. I think the possibility and probability of obtaining $75,000 approval are very high.

CTSoxFan
Barclay's is an odd bird. They have flopped 3 or 4 times on their BK policy (as of last year (pre-COVID) it was prior BK and your on the BL for new cards). They go forever in a day without giving me BT offers on my card, then I get them 2-3 per month. They gave DW a starting CL of $75,000 on her card last year, which was her second highest overall (she has a BoA at $95k) and highest starting limit by far...actually highest starting limit either one of us has ever gotten. I would bet if I were in the market I would be approved because they probably changed their policies again. And lest we all not forget the great Jumanji incident from 2007 (for those that weren't around there was a weekend when Juniper, who was acquired by Barclays, was approving people for insane CLs relative to their portfolio. I can't recall if this was pre or post acquisition. Thread is here and is hella entertaining. Juniper is tripping!! I wouldn't call rationally extending credit "trippin' balls". (And, it appears I had underestimated Barclays rationality.) In this situation, "trippin' balls" (a la Junami) would be a case of someone approved for $75k, who had never had a prior credit line greater than $15k, and likely has a household income of no more than $100k. hegemony

Glacier
I put in for a $15,000 increase. They only approved $5,000, so I went from $10,000 to $5,000. Hard Pull on Experian. Got same message as CV, rec'd phone call about 3 hours later with the news. cv91915 and hegemony
