Good lord.

Does Barclays have any of their own (non-cobrand) products in the US anymore?

Ring - gone

Rewards  - gone

Arrival - ?

_________ - ?

Makes me wonder if the corpse of the old GEMB is finally growing closer to room temperature and giving a reason for the stinking up of the joint...

Yep, folks are anxious about credit accounts prematurely terminated without cause, and that eventually stinks up to high heaven.

Since Walmart departed as a partner, Synchro has experienced a glorious time. Hehe... Isn't that an oxymoron!

I'm beginning to suspect not and that's why my Ring and Arrival are managed on a shoestring by Barclays but they have yet to convert them over to something else.  I currently have a choice on both cards to initiate a 7 mo 0% bt (3% fee) and/or a 0% purchase rate for 7 mo.  (You likely saw that extended on the Aviator as well).

I had to laugh that the plug was just pulled on the Ring cardholder forum (kind gesture, given that it was on life support the last 2+ years).

If Lowes pulls the ripcord Synch is dead and gone.
I want a Lowes card again, but I am still pissed at Synch for the way they handled things last year.
They still have the Amazon store card too.

This should be interesting though. I IIB'd both Synchrony (Amazon) and Barclay (2x cards for around $4000-$4500). Sychrony has never let me back in, until now. Only a $300 limit though. But I wonder what Barclay will do, since they blacklist.

Barclay has changed their BL policies somewhat recently.  I IIB them a long time ago (almost 20 yrs ago), and around 8-10 years ago I got a card through them which is now an Arrival with a $41k limit.  Have had no issues since getting it.  Last year I applied for a JetBlue card and was denied for IIB account, even on recon.  Hopefully their policy change was temporary.

I still have my Amazon card issued by Synch.  I am hoping that doesn't change because I like the 5% back with instant crediting the next statement.  Solid reward with low maintenance.  Given the number of Amazon purchases I make, savings do tend to add up.  I know I can get a Chase Amazon Visa, but I am likely close to tapped out with Chase ($115k across 5 cards), plus wouldn't be under 5/24 for a few months at least.

I also had an issue with Barclays.

I paid it back in full a couple years ago.

But I am hesitant to apply again.

Does anyone have any idea which barclays card I should apply for, I have a 730 FICO8 TU.

16% Utilization overall but a copy BT card at 62-65%.

LOL/24.

8 inqs in 6 months.

14 inqs in 12 months.

I am looking for another BT and can't travel due to having cancer.

I'd suggest that there are better pickin's than Barclays for you.  Now that Barclays appears to have stripped their offering of anything other than almost exclusively Travel partner cards, generally Barclays isn't prime for you.

There is one modestly notable exception:  Barclays just picked up the AARP card (formerly Chase) and are accepting applications.  There's a Travel Rewards version (bonus cb on air, hotel, car rental spend), and a Essential Rewards version (bonus cb on gas, drugs, medical spend).  $100 SUB on 90-day $500 spend.  0% bt, 15-mo, 3% fee avail at open.  (I'm not suggesting these are by any means exceptional.)

Pre-existing AARP membership (open to all ages) is not required.  It doesn't appear to be required after card approval.

This is the worst complaint I have ever heard of against Synchrony Bank...

"I can't believe Synchrony bank.  I had about 25 credit cards with them and everything has been closed as of yesterday.  Have an 800 credit score, never been late, am employed as a doctor, and make over $425k per year, and just like that, everything closed.  Unbelievable.   All of my Synchrony store cards (Amazon, PayPal, Sam's, Care Credit, BP Amoco, etc.).  Is Synchrony going out of business?"

Golly, if you're a physician with an annual income of half a million,  why do you want to suck up so much garbage in your wallet?

Why do we hate Synchrony now? I thought they were good for rebuilding and high limits.

"Hate" is a pretty strong word.

There's been one or more waves of "unprovoked" shutdowns over the past year, so they've been the ones thinning the herd of Synchrony fans.

One good point for Synchrony is the B&H Payboo card.  It pays the sales tax, which is my case makes it a 9.5% cashback card.

And I note that it *pays* the sales tax, not simply "doesn't collect" it.  That's a big difference, because if the tax simply isn't collected, then technically it is still owed in the form of Use Tax (which has to be declared on your state return).
