Did you already have the CSP?

NO. I get almost all Chase cards with "you already approved" status, except the United Club card.

Honestly, I don't like Chase and its policies and business practice tactics. Well, let see what made me don't like them...

A- An unfriendly lender to all reputations risked customers.
B- 5% credit card cash advance limited.
C- Double-pull on every credit application.
D- Hard-pull on the credit line increases (again DP).
E- A RAT team potentially closed all your accounts without warning.

Wells Fargo is bad! Sync and Com are disgusting but, Chase is shrewd! Because Chase doesn't care they're the largest bank and half of all household in the US has an account with Chase. They're too big to fail.

Now, don't get me wrong, if you have good credit, Chase will come through for you and lend you substantial money to meet your needs. Otherwise, they are insatiable!  :)

Prospects for a further increase on my $29.8 Discover CL are bleak.  Last increase was $500 Jan '20.   Last response was:  Denied - insufficient use of credit line.

I put one or two charges on it each quarter.  No incentive to charge more.  I thought they'd toss me a $500 CLI bone after not having requested in 16 months; not the case.

You're not doing it right... hehe

Ain't that the truth ...

On Thursday I sat on the phone for 40+ minutes, suffering 2 disconnected calls, because I applied for a Best Buy card.  (I wanted to purchase a $1200 cell phone, Galaxy Z Flip, and BB's 10% first purchase reward was desirable.)

The issue was that I had over $100k in Citi lines (incl $33k tied up with Home Dep & Sears).  This required special handling apparently.  I suffered a request for emailed w-2 and an IRA statement, for which I complied.  And then with added delays, I simply lost it on the phone ...

Well, actually, that happened when shortly into my 3rd call I complained that I had been on the phone for over 40 minutes and the CSR replied, "well, you've only been on the phone with me for 4.  Yeah, I lost my *Admin and our Terms of Service prohibit profanity*.

That apparently prompted the CSR to short-cut things by asking if a $2k line would be sufficient, in which case she could likely secure immediate approval.  Good by me (good chance I'll shut the card down immediately upon taking advantage of the purchase rewards now).  Within 5 minutes I had my approval and a card number loaded to my Best Buy online account.

For 30 years I've held Citi in my strongest esteem because they've pretty much stuck with DW and I through thick and thin and I've sung Citi's praises on this board.  This encounter blew that goodwill entirely out the window.

Sorry, I got the score wrong!  Oops!  😜

Here's the official score from PenFed pulled from EFX...

812  :D

No installment loan really cost me badly, at least losing 15-20 points.

I have _never_ gotten an auto CLI, but last month when my BoA card was about a year old they increased the limit from $6k to $8k, and I just got another message it was increased to $12k.

Nice!  Congrats!

FWIW chase is my favorite issuer by far. high limits, easy limit combos, and rewards that post as expected.

"hard" inquiries are not to be feared.

Speaking of Chase and high limits...

TAD just got approved for the Amazon Prime card, issued by Chase.

Limit:  $5,000.

This is his only Chase card.

We closed his Marriott card earlier this year (had been in the $60k range thanks to combos, but they cut the limit in half in a pandemic-fueled credit panic).

Now that the card is visible on Chase.com, the limit appears to be $50k.  Not $5k.

Sorry, Hege...  I missed this post earlier to reply, or should I rebut to Chase bank draconian on cash advances?  :D

It used to be not like that. I recalled people applying for 8-9 credit accounts in a night. Without any balance chasing, account closure, and there is absolutely no adverse action taken by creditors whatsoever.  Nothing happened, despite your FICO score in the mid 600. I've said this before on another topic. People apply for 4 Citibank Advantage Airline Cards and apply for 3 Amex accounts, with a Charge, a Revolver, and a Line. Add on an MBNA Line, plus a USB Line, all in all, nothing happened. Now, that's inquiries shockproof!

At the time, Citibank's credit limit doesn't have a cash advance limit on the credit card. In fact, it's 100% cash available credit limit accessible.

After the recession,  almost every bank, and most credit union, adopted this policy of obtaining 20% to 40% cash advance of the total credit limit on each credit card is the ongoing policy as of now.

Now, Chase even more paranoid, let you access to obtain only a total of 5% of your credit limit, Amex, too, ( a $9000 line merely $200 CA) schizophrenic of welcoming a customer to utilize the cash line option, they're afraid you take the money and run, go, away, bust out, or bankruptcy. That's why they eliminated the M$ activities all over town, shoots,  now everywhere.

On an upside, kudos to PenFed! 100% accessible of obtaining your cash advance to your credit limit. So if you have a $50K credit line, you're can obtain it as cash.

Everybody should remember this action taken by CHASE. This 5% on cash advance policy started in the Covid-19 pandemic. Another word FOAD if you're unemployed.

State Bank (Elan) CLI from $19k to $24k.   Authorized hard pull, but decision popped up in a split second and there's been no inquiry alerts since.

Card has been open for 6 years now.  Only real activity, after the first year SUB purchases, is an annual renewal charge for $30 that hits in May.

< btw, just paid off my $1200 Best Buy purchase today because the first statement cuts in a couple of days.  Normally would have allowed to report to show evidence of use on my credit report, but no way was I going to let the card report at 60% util.  $2k CL saga "above" >

One last, easy CLI before, Cap1 takes over.

You prompted me to seek CLI's on my Pottery Barn and West Elm before they transition to Cap 1 as well.

Unfortunately, both accounts stated I was ineligible for a CLI at this time.  (based on past experience, I suspect they would put in a request if I consent to a hard pull.  Shying away since I may refi my mortgage this fall.)

PB CL is $10k, WE CL is $6k. Both accts used modestly in past year.  Total Comenity exposure is $46k (other Comenity card is Caesars Rewards w/ $30k).
