creditrepairhelpwanted
Hello, Newbie here, recently came across this forum, and was hoping you could please help me figure out how best to address the old medical debt (~3k in total) that has gone onto collections and is hurting my credit score as a result Background/Context: I have several accounts from Transworld that are dated anywhere from 1-2 years old. I now have the means to pay off my debt, and had called Transworld to see if they would pay for delete (without acknowledging ownership of said debt)....they said no and told me that they would open up a dispute on my behalf. Wish i had discovered this forum before I called, hoping it won't cause too much damage...all things considered, should i still be following the two guides that I've seen in some posts? https://whychat.me/GUIDEBOOK.html https://whychat.me/GUIDE HIPAA PROGRAM.html Also, is it important that I opt out first or can i begin the HIPAA Letter Program Guide? Also, was wondering how long this process takes end to end?

Why Chat
It is not too late to use the HIPAA letter program. Follow the guides; https://whychat.me/GUIDEBOOK.html Opting out is instantaneous so it should not slow down your disputes. Your call to Transworld did not interfere with the use of the program UNLESS you SIGNED something that they provided to you. What were the dates of medical services?? ( NOT the date the CA obtained the accounts) Do you have your EOMBs from your insurance for those dates of service?? If so, double check them to make sure any $$ you are being dunned for MATCH the amounts on your EOMBs that show as your responsibility. https://whychat.me/GUIDE HIPAA PROGRAM.html The program in about half the cases takes about 1-2 Months to successfully delete accounts from your reports that are incorrect and/or older than 2 years from dates of medical services with the use of the initial dispute letter only AFTER opting out and deleting old addresses (if you have moved since the date of medical service); https://whychat.me/hipaadisp.html Come back to this post for further instructions or to ask any questions. creditrepairhelpwanted
Hello, Checking back in...I opted out and then sent out the the initial dispute letter to the 3 credit bureaus. From the 6 transworld accounts that are in question, Experian deleted 5 out of the 6 Equifax verified all 6 Still waiting on TransUnion I also received a response from Transworld In terms of next steps, would you advise that I proceed with the MEDICAL DISPUTE VALIDATION LETTER FOR PAID ACCOUNTS as soon as I hear back from TransUnion? Thanks again for all the guidance. Much appreciated.
Why Chat
Yes go to the next step --match the letters to the reports-for example you would be sending the medical DVs to all 6 for Eq but only 1 for Ex and the follow up disputes to the CRAs to match
creditrepairhelpwanted
Would you mind confirming that I'm tracking in terms of next steps pls? Wait to hear back from TransUnion Question: Should i be concerned that Equifax updated the status date and balance date? Send 'Form Letter to Original Creditor Health Care Provider + Insert a.' Question: Do i reach out to the original health care provider for the balance amounts for the accounts (~2.5yrs old) in dispute? I ask because the I can't seem to match Transworld's reference number + corresponding balances with the health care provider invoice they sent me. Follow instructions for follow up to "HIPAA" letter to original creditor health care provider (https://whychat.me/hipltr.html) Separate note...in transworld's response, they mentioned they didn't report some accounts to the credit bureaus. Should I just take care of those as well in the payment referenced in step 2? Thanks again for the continued guidance and support. DO NOT pay anyone anything. What was the date of the account data in Transworld's response?? If it was NOT recent but just a reprint of the original billing from years ago then they did NOT validate a CURRENT relationship with the OC.
creditrepairhelpwanted
The date of Transworld's response was 1/20/21. They provided their own reference numbers and the corresponding account numbers from the original health care provider. They also enclosed what seems to be a copy of a printed invoice from the original health care provider - there's a line that says it was printed 12/28/2020. What's confusing is that the invoice does not include the full account numbers (i.e. it only lists the prefix), but it does detail the following: service date description billing provider dept charge amt pay/adj amt pat due
Why Chat
They do NOT have a current business relationship with the OC. Is their account one of the accounts that was deleted by Experian??
creditrepairhelpwanted
Experian deleted 5 of the 6 transworld accounts in question (1/21/21), but equifax verified all 6 (1/22/21). Why is there a discrepancy? Don't know if this is relevant at all, but in Transworld's letter (1/20/21), they said they contacted the 3 credit bureaus to put the 6 accounts in question in a disputed status. Recommendation on next steps? Edited February 5 by creditrepairhelpwanted
Why Chat
There is a "discrepancy" because each CRA handles disputes differently. The MAIN thing is that because Ex deleted 5 of the 6 accounts it means that Transworld does NOT have a current business relationship with the OC and therefore is not legally allowed to report as the HIPAA privacy release you signed with the OC was not able to be transferred to them. IF they had been the INITIAL assigned CA they would have had the HIPAA release but that release can NOT be re-transferred to a 2nd CA from the 1st. Send the medical DVs to Transworld https://whychat.me/ltrcavalhipaa.html and the follow up disputes to the CRAs https://whychat.me/ltrcavalhipaa.html#DISPUTE
creditrepairhelpwanted
TL;DR - I'm so thankful for this forum. Thank you so much for all the help and guidance, it's so very much appreciated! --------------------------------------- Just wanted to provide an update: Transunion - 6/6 deleted from initial dispute Experian - 5/6 deleted from initial dispute. 1 outstanding account was deleted following medical DV to Transworld / follow-up dispute to CRA Equifax - No deletions from initial dispute. Pulled my credit report and saw that 4/6 have been deleted following the medical DV to Transworld / follow-up dispute to CRA. Hoping the remaining 2 will be deleted in the coming week or two as the follow-up dispute to the CRA was delivered last week...In the event that the 2 outstanding accounts remain, do you have a recommended course of action? How soon will i see my credit score updated? I'm reading that it can take up to 30-45 days...
Why Chat
If there is no change with Equifax you can file a complaint with the CFPB against Eq https://whychat.me/hipaaftccomp.html
