Paying with "Target Wallet" in-store

Recommended Posts

I recently installed the Target app on my phone and was eager to tap "Wallet" at the self-checkout instead of my usual "Card Payment."  I did this, scanned the bar code on my phone, and the self-checkout said "loading" for more than a minute or so until I declared the whole attempt to be zotzed, moved on to a different register, and checked out with my usual Card Payment routine.

This happened at the Maple Grove North store (there is no Maple Grove Not North store so why isn't the store just called Maple Grove, this I ax you, this I ax you), Chaska, and Chanhassen.

Has anyone encountered this before & can explain what I'm doing wrong?  The employee at Maple Grove logged in and checked some stuff and said that "it sees my Target Wallet" but isn't sure why it wasn't proceeding to suck actual payment from said wallet.

I don't trust that sort of app. I've used the "shop and scan" before with the Michigan based mega-market. It works at the checkout about 66.6% of the time, and if it don't work you have to unbag everything and go back through the regular checkouts.

It might also have happened in Coon Rapids.

At most Target stores, the receipt printers at self-checkout are to the right of the screen.

In Chanhassen, however, they are to the left.
