Denver man got scammed out of $90,000 over the phone

"They made me go to the bank," and do the transfer, etc.

Nope, they didn't make him go to the bank.  Nobody made him do anything.  They told him to go to the bank and do stupid things, and he did.

The article didn't say the man's age, but bank personnel should be trained to ask and then refer such large transfers to a bank manager, before doing them for older customers.  If the name of the recipient is something like "Obojolomu Mambobauga at the First Bank of Nigeria," I would think that should raise a red flag.

Common sense isn't very common.

I actually like these calls.  I string them along and, although you will find this extremely hard to believe, I get really insulting and vulgar with them.  Nice way to release pressure. 😃

It's especially fun in Hong Kong and China.  You can get two or three of these scam / sales calls every single day.  String them along for a minute or so and then ... wham!  Give them ten good seconds of hell in their own language.  They know you are not Chinese by the accent, but that's even better.

Somehow insulting a Chinese person in their own language is worse than if another Chinese person insulted them.  It drives them absolutely livid.  It's like driving a stake through their heart.

Not or sure why, but on those days I feel a strong sense of accomplishment.
