Short of the Dept. of Defense setting up a financial babysitting service, the situation will not be getting any better any time soon.  You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

 

Every unit I have ever been in has had a system to advise unit members about good financial habits, recommendations on how to establish and maintain good credit and third grade math skills necessary to control spending habits.  Many listen, many others do not.

 

It's a dog eat dog world out there.  You can't expect mommy (or Uncle Sam) to hold your hand forever.
