Well considering that the Total Rewards card does not even exist anymore, not to sure what to say, LOL! Maybe you were on a bogus application website and they need two weeks to maximize the theft of your identity? :o

Here is the card that replaced Total Rewards:

Well, it's fairer to say that the underlying rewards program has been renamed from "Total Rewards" to "Caesars Rewards".  The VISA card is unchanged except for the name change (and they haven't bothered to roll out new cards yet to existing cardholders).

As an active Caesars casino player, most players still refer to the player incentive program as "Total Rewards".  May have simply been a similar slip of the tongue by "user".

ID theft is such a seriously dark subject I wouldn't suggest mentioning it in jest with anyone but the most seasoned group member with whom you have some "history".

As far as the Caesars acquisition by Eldorado, "Caesars Palace" is iconic.  When Harrah's acquired Park Place (owner of the Caesars trademark), Harrah's didn't have to think twice about assuming the "Caesars" name as it's new corporate identity.

Prior to this new acquisition announcement, Eldorado had limited trademark visibility.  I'm willing to bet that "Caesars" will survive as the dominant brand name.

The claim is that the program is going to remain in place following the merger that was just announced involving Eldorado.  However, I doubt that is impacting card approvals.

The website still made reference to Total Rewards in recent days and even the signage on some properties was referencing Total Rewards earlier this month.  The Diamond card I was given during the first week of the month in the status match had language about Total Rewards, so let's not give OP too much grief about using the TR nomenclature.

That being said, two week letters are not often a good thing.  However, calling in can sometimes discern whether it was a denial or whether there is something that can be cleared up by phone.

One thing to be aware of is that Comenity showed a propensity towards being inquiry-averse.  One month after I had the card (and fortunately had cleared the bonus), they closed the account for 'too many inquiries.' The ONLY inquiry that existed at the time of approval AND at the time of their closure of the account was the one from when Comenity pulled my report prior to opening the account...so despite what some will have you believe, inquiries do, in fact, matter.  And yes, this was the ONLY reason cited in the letter about the closure.

I've always assumed the "real" rule re inquiries is an unwritten:  "Inquiries don't matter (until they do)"  ;)

I've assumed those who cite "inquiries don't matter" are FICO focused.  Generally speaking, multiple recent inquiries (by themselves) won't sink an app (though it may be referred for manual review).

And, yeah, anecdotally Comenity is an exception to this.

lol. who gives a beep about the name. so I guess the 2 week notice is not good. oh well.

Yeah, I get the frustration when people dance all over your post without directly answering your query ... 🤢

I don't have experience on which to comment re your chances of success.  However, most often a "7-10 days" response it usually cited as suggesting that you're likely denied.  Some people interpret a "2 week" notice as suggesting they intend to review the app further.

Best of luck.  (I trust this card has value to you ... I generally consider it a decent card if you visit Caesars gaming properties at least 6 times a year; I'd cast for bigger fish otherwise.)

Not to change the subject regarding the credit card, but Assuming the deal goes through in the first half of 2020 as planned, Eldorado is going to do business as Caesars as it has broader name recognition.

Still have not received anything. :( I called and all they tell me is they dont see an account for me in the system yet and that my app is still processing because further info is needed and that I will be hearing from them shortly. I called two times and they seem very perplexed that I have not heard anything yet. That is coming from the new accounts department. Can they tell me if I was declined over the phone?

When I applied for the card back in February 2018, I received an instant approval with a credit line of $9,000.

Be careful with that card. I had an unrelated new inquiry post to my credit report after they opened the account, and less than a month later, Comenity closed the card due to "too many recent inquiries." In the process, I got screwed out of a sign-up bonus that I was in the middle of working on. Tried to fight it with customer service and even they agreed that it was the dumbest reason to close an account that they had personally ever seen, but the closure remained.

Sorry to hear about getting screwed on the bonus...I was fortunate enough to have cleared that one in the first week.  The rewards posted shortly before the account got shut down (for the same reason you reference...inquiries...despite their inquiry being the only one on the reports).

I had higher hopes for the card, especially after they had moved it from BofA a few years back...the MBNA influence remains strongly in place at BofA and I get screwed due to them having been in the quarter-mil of ID-theft losses I endured nearly 20 years ago (so much for the claim of not being responsible for ID theft losses- they still punish me for their $40-50K that was lost).  But BofA would be light years ahead of Comenity in terms of managing the card-related program.  It will be interesting to see if Eldorado sticks with Comenity or changes to a different issuer for the card...or does away with card affiliation altogether.

They only matter to you.

When I got my TR Visa back in 2014, I had a lot of inquiries on the bureau they pulled, EQ.  Since then I have seldom had fewer than a dozen INQs on any one of the CRAs and all Comenity does is give me CLIs up to their maximum exposure.

Mendy is not wrong when he says that when they pull the INQ excuse out of their butt, it's a cover-story for something else.

By the way, just got an email from TR telling me to look out for my newly designed card to arrive soon.

I know. I have read about how they close cards. How long did it take to receive your card?

According to my notes, 4 business days from application to receiving card.

Unfortunately I didn't pay much attention to any specific dates mentioned, if any at all, before deleting the e-mail.

You can call them and ask.
