Ramification(s) of Payment Acceptance by OC After Sale

Recommended Posts

Hmmm.  What happens? An account becomes delinquent, written off, balance now nil, account sold to debt purchaser.  The OC processess some payment on the account.  The balance can't be updated since it is zero. Does the amount owed at charge off commencement change to reflect the payment? Should it, has some furnisher's rule been broken? Does this OC have any obligation, purpose, after account(s) are sold? Is deletion ok?

if the OC really does not own an interest in the debt, should not accept payment and contact you informing you who owns the debt.
