Take the No Credit Card Challenge With Us in June

Recommended Posts

Bunch of idiots over there if they don't realize that spending on a credit card does not equal debt...that sort of article comes across as the salve for those who want a Dave Ramsey sippy cup.

Screw that. For the month of May, I made $272.72 in cash back rewards/discounts using my credit cards. That was even a light month. I pay-in-full every month, I don't pay interest. Why would I give that up on top of losing the other benefits/protections of using a credit card, plus open up my debit card/checking account to the potential risk of fraud? I also don't feel like carrying $15,000 in cash around to cover my monthly credit card spending.

How exactly is that a “life hack?” I thought a life hack is something millennials do to make something easier/more efficient for not much money.

That entire article is pointless. I charged probably around $50k this month between personal and business. I’ll PIF when I get the statements. I’d have spent the exact same amount had I used cash or debit. And as mentioned above, why forgo free points and fraud protection?

Perhaps these people just need to learn proper budgeting.

How about instead I'll take the "see if I can max out my Q2 revolving categories on my Freedom and Discover cards challenge"?  I would be willing to bet a yes on the first for sure and a not likely on the second.

It is the same idiotic crowd that think in order to build credit you need to revolve a balance and "pay a bit of interest"...

I get a lot out of my Chase Sapphire points—I’ve booked so much free or discounted travel with them this year—but I wonder a lot if it’s worth it, given how much extra money I tend to spend if I’m using credit instead of debit.

What is wrong with these people! I used to use only a debit card and now I use credit cards instead. My spending is the same. I just set up my CC accounts to autopay in full. What's the problem?

Carrying a balance is doing it wrong.

I'll never forget the time I checked into my resort hotel at Disney World about 9 years ago.  There was an obvious Dave Ramsey couple in line ahead of me. I watched the guy pull about $10,000 in bills out of his pocket and pay cash for their hotel rooms up front in full. I think my eyes were popping out of my head. Can't imagine traveling and walking around with that much cash in my pocket. Whatever happened to travelers' checks?

Nine years ago, we were still in the Great Recession. People did some weird stuff like going all cash. Could the guy/couple have been another kind of nutter not necessarily Dave nutter?

I wouldn't mind watching her unboxing, however I have a feeling I am going to be disappointed...

I haven't touched over 30 of my cards this month.

I feel that more than compensates for the ones I've used, so I am still entitled to Gold Status. I opened 2 more CCs to celebrate.

😱  OMG!  I've used 25 this month!!  I'm going straight to freaking hell!!!  😱

Kat, honey, prepare my suitcases, please.  No warm clothes, no porn and plenty of water.  Please continue to take good care of the kids.

Hege, buddy, I won't forget you.  I am leaving you my special Volume "D" Day-Timer album.  Remember me kindly.

Pot you might want to take that Disco card with you, seeing as your heading to hell and I am sure that the only card they take there is Discover or debit.

Thanks, but I think a credit union card is best.  😃
