One-Third of Middle Class Can’t Afford $400 Surprise Expense, Fed Finds (soft pay wall)

Recommended Posts

That's sadly an improvement. The last time I heard this story 3 years ago, it was close to half.

Bad budgeting. They know they can overdraft and pay $35 per instance or put it on a 20% interest credit card. I used to be that way. That's how I found CB.

If you're paying $200 for a toaster, it should make your entire breakfast.

You can thank me later.

That same third likely also doesn't realize that an income tax refund is nothing more than getting your own money back (unless you're lower middle class, have a litter of rugrats and get EIC)

Cool toaster, but I'll stick to my $30 toaster oven. The people who can't afford $400 will buy that, though.

Do you have an air fryer and lease it too?

I shopped for them but never bought as I rarely bake or toast.
I gave away my microwave oven as the place came with one.
