How Long Before Asking Again For Cap1 CLI?

I finally got my wife to start paying her balance in full BEFORE her statements cut. To be more precise, I've simply started logging on and paying her cards myself.

She had no negs and no inquiries on her reports. Her FICOs shot up to 800+ scores.

After her Cap1 reported with a zero balance and all reports were over 800, she hit the LUV button and was denied for a CLI.

There was only one reason given "Recent use of this account's existing credit line has been too high."

She's had the card for over 3 years and has a fairly low credit limit considering her income and perfect credit.

How long should she wait before hitting the LUV button again?

Other info: She was kinda pissed at Cap1 so she picked up a Chase card, two AmEx cards, a Disco card, and a NavyFederal card in a small app spree.

That's odd, they recently denied my CLI for "Recent use of this account's existing credit line has been too low". I have had mine for almost ten years. I had a measly $500 limit for five years, and was able to get a small increase by writing EO. I have been trying the luv button maybe every six months for years with no luck.

Good plan moving along from the starter card.  For most it's not worth the time or effort with older Capital One cards whose purpose have long since passed.

Why is she screwing around with Navy Federal's subprime cards when she has good credit?

CapOne is weird.  They want to see use, but not too much.

That's my fault. I remember reading a couple of years ago that NavyFed was giving out huge limits to applicants with clean credit. All of her cards have very low limits (except for her new cards). Because she had low limits and always left a balance on her cards the utilization was fairly high.

Probably should have researched a little more on what cards to get. I haven't been around this site for a while. But I'm pleased with the other cards she received and the limits.

The great thing about having great credit is everyone wants to give you decent credit lines.  :)

If the Amices are revolvers she has a couple of 3X opportunities ahead.

If her FICOs are >800 then who gives a %&!t what Crap One says?  Sock drawer that subprime POS  💩 :D

Unfortunately, it looks like she used up all her 5/24 slots in her app spree and has to wait 2 years to get another Chase card :( but she's way better off with her new ones!

I agree. I was trying to get her some large limits so her score won't go down much if she lets cards cut with a balance.

The one redeeming factor with CapOne is their end of the year statements where they break everything down by category. It makes tax time a lot easier when scanning for deductions we may have missed.

As for getting more Chase cards, she rarely gets new credit. Two years isn't a big deal for her.

I remember reading that here too. When did Navy Fed become a subprime card?

That's only in CV's brain.  To be fair, it could be physiological caused in at least part by STDs, infections and lack of a penis.

They've always been subprime.  This sucky CU has been the go-to place for people with horrendous credit as long as I have been on CB.

If you have average/good/great credit the whole world of choices for rewards cards opens up.

At that point some people keep using their subprime NF cards out of loyalty, many more out of ignorance, but few who can do math would bother to argue that the cards are worth having over the long term when credit is no longer an issue.

That's subprime.

Agreed.  Only an ignorant Jethro struggling with third grade math would apply for a Navy FlagShip card.  Glad we're onboard on that one.

"Pay no attention to that little man behind the curtain."

CV is the official Navy Federal Whiny Little B!tch.

Hard to take seriously someone with active Navy Federal accounts, one recently obtained. ;)

No reason not to get a NF card when you're credit challenged, since you're more likely to get a higher-than-average limit than other places -- which will help tremendously while you rebuild.

Right how I have checking/savings at NF but I only keep a few dollars in each (shortly after I joined they shut down my accounts after I called to make them aware that they set me up in their system incorrectly as a female -- and then they forced me resubmit my membership documentation for a fourth time before they'd correct their mistake and give me back access to my own money).

I also opened up a Flogship card back in Oct/Nov for a $500 SUB that still hasn't posted.  Another CB member reported waiting 6 months for the SUB.

It's worth the abuse when you have no other options.  At this point I wouldn't rely on their amateur services and abusive treatment for anything in our lives that actually matters.  With prime credit we have an astonishing array of better options.

I particularly find Jussie's CV's logic about "Do as I say, not as I do" so refreshing.

I had scores in 700+ with high limits and very low utilization and got denied on all 3 Crap One cards in March 2019.

I found in the denial notice they were using my score from 1/1/2019 which was 640ish. Check the denial notice, it will show the score and the date. Wait for a few cycles before hitting luv again I'd say.

I've discovered that with CapOne, too.  They use their most recent soft pull data in making their decisions.  They are weird -- at least to me -- in their logic, too.  Use the card too much, and they balk.  Use it too little, also held against you.

Life used to to be so much simpler with CapOne in the old days.  The best way to a high limit was a new card and then combo.  There's a stickied thread all about it.  Since Mr. Juggs - R.I.P. - left, it has seen little maintenance though.  :(
