rabnpmb Posted December 30, 2018 It has been a while since I last posted, and I appreciate all the help and advice. Over the summer, we got my wife a 2015 Rogue AWD via Capital One Auto, also got CLI on my Cap1 from $300 to $500 (I know, not a HUGE increase). Biggest surprise was when my Discover IT secure card ($300) sent me back my deposit AND increased my limit to $2000! I have been keeping all my limits low, and am still 'cleaning' up my reports. One item I have that I would like removed is a 'closed' account (not charged-off) of Milestone credit card. They aren't showing a balance. Last status update was May 1, 2016, with balance updated March 1, 2017. Funny thing is, from May 2016 through March 2017, it all shows 'On Time' on my official Experian report. The last 'negative' was Apr 2016 with 120 days late. So, without rocking the boat and have them start updating negative status each month, what would be the best way to get rid of this account off my reports? From the DOFD, this 'should' fall off in 2022 but would like it gone earlier if possible. Thanks for any help or info.

rabnpmb Posted December 30, 2018 I tried to post a screenshot from my Experian report, but guess I can't. Anyway, here is what it says: Account Status: Closed Status Updated: May 1, 2016 Balance: --- Balance Updated: Mar 1, 2017 The first 30 day negative was Nov 2015 Then, 60 on Dec 2015, 90 Jan 2016, 120 Feb 2016, 120 Mar 2016, 120 on Apr 2016...then 'On Time' from May 2016 until the last 'status' of On Time on Mar 2017

Disputing always brings with it a risk that the results will make the TL look worse rather than better. Separately, there are a group of data furnishers that have a reputation for updating your CO TL every month. Capital One is an example. A dispute is unlikely to cause this data furnisher to suddenly update your TL every month with a fresh CO unless that is already their MO, and for some reason (COMPUTER GLITCH?????) you've been spared up until this point. If anyone has experience with a Milestone CO, please comment as to whether they normally update with a fresh CO in the payment history every month. rabnpmb Posted December 30, 2018 If it helps, in the 'Comments' section on my Experian regarding this acct, it says 'Transferred to another lender or claim purchased'. No other CA or any JDB has contacted me about this at all, and isn't in collections. If Milestone lists this as 'Closed' and '$0' balance/past due, can they still update monthly with 'Fail to Pay'? rabnpmb Posted January 1 I have the email addresses of the CEO, COO, SVP of Risk at Genesis-FS (the card issuer). I wonder if I emailed one or all of them a GW letter and plead for mercy? It DID work with my charged-off Cred1 accounts almost immediately. Thoughts?
nosup4u Posted January 2 I don't know if I would do that you will most likely get an update and will knock your score down because of the update on the account. I tried it a few times and it has not worked out well for me. Your score will rebound in the next months after but don't poke that bear.
