Bank of America Business Credit Card Credit limit increase - no hard pull required

Recommended Posts

This has been discussed recently in the personal credit section.  Bank of America no longer requires a hard pull for a credit line increase request.  I just called today to request an increase on my Bank of America Business Credit card and confirmed that they too will not require a hard pull.  They did want me to unlock all 3 bureaus though.  Not sure which one they pulled.  They said they do not normally request any docs for limits under $100k.  Either an instant approval, decline or further review.  Mine went to further review but they transferred me to that department immediately.  Answered a few questions about the business and why I wanted the increase and it was recommended for approval.  Analyst said it should take 1 to 2 business days to show online.

If you already have an account with a creditor then you shouldn't have to unlock any credit report unless they do a HP. They can initiate a soft pull with your credit files locked. Odd they asked they. Did you check to make sure they didn't do a HP?

Yes.  I checked.  No hard pull.  I had the same experience with Synchrony Bank when applying for a credit line increase on a PayPal Mastercard.  Apparently, they need the file unlocked.

You can apply online but I called in to confirm no hard inquiry and to see which credit bureau(s) they would pull.  The whole process including transfer for further review took less than 15 minutes.
