So with the rollout of the new personal AMEX Gold card it caught my attention. Firstly because it is an actual metal card. That is one thing I have been wanting to achieve just because. But also because I feel that getting one would really makes feel sorta accomplished in the credit repair department. Sure some people might think that’s a dumb reason but everyone has their own reasons for everything they do.

But with the new new perks it would be easy for me to achieve the spending limits for the 25k mr bonus plus the restaurant bonuses as well to make the new $250 af actually affordable.

I was alreafy Pre-Approved for the old gold and green card but then today it only showed the green... probably because of this card being new but idk.

So I decided to take the chance and see what happens and BOOM it was approved!

Im all setup, have my number in Apple Pay and also have my account online setup. I tested to see if my spending power will allow a $3500 purchase and it said it would be!

so now my question is what should apply for next with Amex as I have heard going for 2 at once is better if I remember correctly. Of course this one would be a cc.

For anyone else interested in this new card, here is a referral link for 50K MR with $2K spend in 90 days.  Also includes a 20% cashback bonus up to $100 on restaurant spend also in the first 90 days.

AMEX SUBs are once per lifetime, don't take a 25K MR offer.  And I get 10K MR per approval just for full disclosure

Please explain this in excruciating detail.

What do you want me to explain... I mean it’s  not really any difference to someone wanting to achieve $1 million dollars worth of available credit just because they could.

Because I already had a preapproved offer of the Amex gold card before this one (which I was going to apply for) I then went ahead and applied for the new one.

One is an acquisition, the other is an achievement.  I'll let you decide which is which.

I’m just curious why it matters to you so very much the reason someone would get a card?? Just doesn’t make sense to me. And honestly I don’t have to answer to you with your stupid comments so I’ll kust keep my opinions to myself. Thanks though for your concern 🙄

To answer your question, I generally strive to educate and to elevate people's expectations so they look objectively to find opportunities to make the most of their current credit situations.

If that makes my comments stupid, handcuff me and haul me away.

Would you pay $250 for a can of soup because it comes in a metal can?  How many $250 rolls of aluminum foil do you have?  By the standards you've described, acquiring these would be achievements.

Not the only reason so don’t get all bent out of shape. I love how assume something that isn’t true.

But then again I don’t have to explain my reasoning to you as your not my keeper. Your just a random person on the Internet making assumptions without knowing everything.

I can use the perks that the card offers and justify the af. With that being said I’d say maybe you need to know the whole story before making your assumptions or smart flowers comments. Just my opinion and you can take it how you wish.

If you wish to help as you as you stated in the first part of your response I’d love to see it! Because it seems to me that most of your comments are more on the negative/questioning side of things (being a smart flowers) vs actually helping.

If you wish to contribute something that would actually help me then go for it I’m all ears. If not keep it to yourself please.

Oh btw I haven’t gone on to your posts about acquiring his card questioning why you got it etc. because honestly I don’t give 2 💩💩 why you did. Unlike yourself you would rather take the time to knock someone down that has acquired a new account and is excited about it.

There is a counter-current against getting or valuing a card because it's made out of metal or Bakelite or particle board, because an objective analysis would ascribe no actual value to this attribute.

I was responding to your own words in your original post.  You've chosen to take my light-hearted, constructive comments personally.  Not much I can do about that.

I look forward to reading your posts about the actual value you get from the card, and hope it's a big win for your portfolio for reasons that matter.

Congrats on the card.

Congrats on the card.

I never said there was a value to what it was made of. Hell I can use it now and I don’t even have the card in my pocket. All I said was that I had wanted a metal card ever since I have been on my credit journey and with the changes they made it was still a good fit for me.

There are other cards cards out there that I have my sights on as well BUT with the pre approved offer I had from Amex I decided to see about getting my foot in the door and I was able to achieve that.

Thanks and also congrats to you on it as well.
