Apparently, American Express and Discover use the same backend for their chat support

Recommended Posts

I was doing a bit of multi-tasking and logged into both my Amex and Disc accounts in separate browser tabs. First, I contacted Discover chat to resolve something. Issue resolved, closed chat, left feedback. Then, I opened chat via Amex to resolve a matter there. It contained the entire log from my Discover chat, and kept prompting me to close the chat window as my issue is closed.

Seems like a potential privacy/security issue. Though I'm pretty sure that this would be an extremely uncommon scenario and difficult to exploit.

OMG, you saw you your own info??

It's in a server-side transcript. Amex was able to see my Discover info.

I hope that's more clear for you.

Did you contact them to report it?

Yup. Both parties. Won't do any good though as most CSRs don't send that info back to the appropriate channels.
