One day when a bunch of us left lunch to return to work a woman from a different department, completely out of the blue whipped out a boob and said "What do you think? Do you like this?"

My hands firmly gripped - to the wheel :) , I just said: "it's very nice but could you please put it back?"

She was in a completely different department from me.  I told no one and never brought it up with her.

Well, what do you think? Was this just over the top flirting? Sure left was a long silent period as we returned to work.

Yes completely over the top. Amazing.

She was obviously triggered to do that, and any men that were in the car are fully responsible. And you by making any statement as to the quality of the female part should be brought up on sexual harassment charges.

<yes that was pure sarcasm>

Well, yeah.  But my question was should I have reported it back when it happened. Never occurred to me to do so. Nothing threatening about it, just weird. And back then sexual harassment required something that occurs after you had said "not interested," and they continued and it was annoying. I think it's still that way now but really don't know. I retired long ago.

20 yrs ago I remember men at my work  expressing resentment towards work place sexual harrassment policies because they said it was hypocritical. They complained among co-workers that women break the rules a lot and it goes unnoticed.

I'm not sure what HR would have done since it sounds like it didn't happen on the work site.

Doesn't matter that it wasn't on site.  It happened on company time.  No different than incidents that happen at offsite events like Office Christmas parties and the like.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had a similar thing happen to me close to 35 years ago...

I worked for a small company though - no real HR dept.

The guy wouldn't leave me alone even after I made it clear I wasn't interested in what he had to offer.

Pretty sure he was hitting on every woman that worked there.

The whole thing was just weird - and I never could get past it, so I left the company. But I was 19 at the time and jobs for kids that age  are a dime a dozen.

I can look back on it now and laugh. Laughing is  maybe what I should have done back then? LOL

I ran across a guy like that hit on every female in sight or so it seemed. He was in sales and so was used to being told "not interested." So perhaps that partially explains it. But even I found him creepy and I'm pretty easy going.
