Citi update to remarks, dispute or not?

Recommended Posts

So I received an alert from a credit report monitoring service that the remarks for a Citi Account have been updated on my Equifax report.  The remarks are "Remarks,  Affected by natural disaster"  This is not true I'm in CT, so do I worry about it and dispute or not?

Thanks
Dennis

This happened to me as my home was in an area affected by a natural disaster.  Even though my home suffered slight damage, my payments were made in full as usual.  I called the creditor directly and explained the issue as I never missed a payment.  The next day the remark was removed.

That comment is temporary and for your benefit. My lender stated they suspended all mortgage late fees for the duration the natural disaster reflecting on my report. It also seems like they would not have reported a 30+ day late but that is just speculation.

Now on the other hand, if you were in the process of closing a refi or purchase, it could become problematic.
