I can only echo (i.e. copy and paste) what others have said on other message boards I follow.

 

"Senator McCain was a strident and firm and thoughtful Republican...He was known as a maverick and beloved by his constituents and state for good reason. He was a good man. "

Broken leg, one arm fractured in 3 places, other arm fractured. Shoulder smashed with a rifle butt and also bayoneted in the foot. 

 

Released from captivity 15 MAR 73.

 

I've been involved in crap most can't imagine yet I myself can't even begin to fathom what he went through. 

 

Everyone can have opinions on his politics and his involvement with the S&L fiasco, but one indisputable fact is he was one tough mother fukker.

Reading his Obit in the papers,   he was one bad a++, bad boy in his younger days , 

 

And as it turns out he had the  balls to back up that attitude.

I didn't know until this week that he was offered the option to leave captivity because his dad was a high ranked naval officer, but he declined.

This based on a 2008 article written by historian Mary Hershberger, about McCain leaving the USS Forrestal while it burned:

I'm confused. A post praising a politician isn't political, but one pointing out his actual record in office is?

 

So if 10 people write "McCain was a true hero and real man, etc., etc.," that is not political?

 

But if 1 person writes, "Well, actually he was a war monger and he voted against making Martin Luther King Day a federal holiday" that is political?

It's generally a decent, human thing to do to recognize a person's positive attributes and contributions when they pass.

 

With some obvious exceptions like Jeffrey Dahmer and Adolf Hitler, it's considered offernsive to pee onto a man's grave before he's even buried in it.

McCain killed many more innocent people than Jeffrey Dahmer. Guess he wasn't very "humane". Guess that's not "offensive" either, since it was done in uniform.
