Elan/US Bank check personal credit? Rep says no...

Recommended Posts

Looking for a business card that isn't going to ding my personal credit. I don't care about PGing but I don't want the inquiry. Called on an Elan Financial Services backed card and the rep says he also handles calls from US bank. He said they only check business credit as long as you have an EIN although the app requests SS#. He confirmed this with his supervisor while I was on the phone. Anyone else have any experience with this?

Next to SS# it states: By Federal Law we are required to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. As a result we require your Social Security number for identification purposes.

Put a security freeze on all (3) of your credit bureaus. Once the freeze is in place complete the application and provide you SSN. If they call you back saying they can't access your report due to a security freeze then you will know they tried to do a credit inquiry. Always a good idea to have a security freeze in place at all times.

Yeah I have the freeze already just wasn't sure if anyone else had experience with them. Appreciate the advice!

They pull, don't believe any one in the banks!

As suggested freeze it and see the denial.
