Why so many Android updates?

Lately it's been over 30 a week, and I don't really have loads of apps. I need to double check I'm using WiFi when installing, as I can gobble up a lot of my data allowance just for this.

Just updated my messaging, I gotta check to see if this is the update I'm waiting for. You can change your settings so updates are only done via wifi. I think that's the default setting anyway.

I took my spare (Android) phone to Japan a couple of weeks ago. It reminded me how my iPhone requires nothing from me to do its job. I'm truly not an Apple evangelist, but good lord.

Maybe, maybe not. I have over 250 apps on my Android and I haven't noticed any unusual update activity in recent weeks. It seems like a normal flow of updates on my system.

Yes, there is a setting you can apply to handle the updates when your phone is ONLY on WiFi

But the converse is that there are so many Apple OS updates that seem to have ended, umm...less than well. Not to mention the other problems that come with Apple, to include the lack of easily replaceable batteries.

 

Some of the updates I saw come across were for a number of the Google-related apps that I never use. A few were Blackberry specific.

Just an update: I see six updates pending at the moment, and it's only Monday. That's in addition to 33 updates I installed last week.

My Pixel phone usually updates when it's charging. It knows when it's allowed to update.
