After Amazon announced that it’s increasing the annual cost of Prime to $119, many people are taking a close look at whether a membership is really worth it.

If free two-day shipping is important to you, it’s also available from other retailers like Walmart and Target.

It's simple math for me. I might order something from Amazon about every other month. So six times a year. If shipping averages about $6, for six purchases that's $36. I'll just pay for shipping.

Walmart doesn't deliver 7 days a week, and Amazon does

If the only reason you do Prime is "FREE" shipping then maybe it's not worth it.. I do the streaming (Prime Music etc) and get so much more out of Amazon than the "free shipping"

Agreed. Back in the $79/year days, 2-day shipping was enough to sway me (that was also the pre-tax era of Amazon). Streaming content, kindle perks, etc have all made Prime that much more valuable. Time will tell if we see any added benefits from Whole Foods.

If TAD didn't use Amazon's streaming video service almost daily I'd pull the plug on Prime immediately.

I'm about to replace my electric shaver (from Google Express with a 20% off promo code, plus $20 Amex spending offer) and order for TAD a set of Bose QuietControl 30 earphones (from Abt, no tax and 4% back from TopCashBack).

This weekend I also ordered a bread maker (Google Express, $20 Amex spending offer) that TAD will use only once.

I did order TAD an $8.99 passport wallet from Amazon over the weekend, because he saw mine and wanted one just like it.
