Been having to deal with someone who offers nothing but empty promises, all of which are never honored.

...at what point do empty promises become lies? Never? Immediately? Is there a time limit?

Why do you “have to” deal with someone, or anyone? There are 7.6 billion people in this world.

If you'll give me one more chance

I swear that I will never lie to you again

because now I see the destructive power of a lie

they're stronger than truth

I can't believe I ever hurt you

I swear

I will never to you lie again, please

just give me one more chance

I will never lie to you again

I swear

that I will never tell a lie

I will never tell a lie

no, no

I think this forum's history with a certain New Jersey / Massachusetts resident would answer this question almost immediately?

If the agreement has been broken by one party, or a material misrepresentation has been made, the agreement is null and void. So you are as free as you want to be.

He's so funny.

Those cuts where he's just running full tilt through the set. Hilarious.

Sweet guy. Well, until you lemonade him off for being a tool.

I remember years ago Henry got a Grammy or something for best spoken word album. Pissed off the religious community something awful, because that award always went to them. Lol.

Depends on your definition of lie. I define a lie as an intentional communication made in order to cause the recipient to be misled. By this definition, the only question is whether the person in question intended to deceive you. I used to become annoyed when people spoke of telling someone an objective truth knowing the recipient would misinterpret and be misled, and then act as if they weren't lying Lots of people have mistaken ideas about what they will do and ambitious plans that will never come to fruition. An honest statement never changes into a lie. It is either an honest statement or it isn't. That being said, at the end of the day, the distinction matters little.

Ive seen him live a couple times.

The first was at Cal State Fullerton when I was in high school. Someone came on stage and tried to grab his mike and he clocked them with his mike.

The second was at Universal Amphitheater in LA. Cypress Hill/Rollins Band/Beastie Boys. Cypress Hill was nobodies then, but they gave Henry a skateboard. Someone went on stage and tried to take that skateboard, and Rollins punched the guy and knocked him in his a&&. That concert was awesome...hung out with USC quarterback/drug addict Todd Marinovich and Flea from Red Hot Chile Peppers. Marinovich was already a burnout but Flea was cool as can be...in a white leather suit with some hot slut rubbing all over me telling me that water polo guys are so hot.

I think the difference between the two (empty promise and lie) is intent.

If, when they tell you they will do something, and actually intend to do so when they say it ("We will go out to eat sometime soon" or "I'm going to give up this nasty habit"). If it never comes to pass, it is an empty promise.

If the tell you these things and never intend to do it to begin with, it is a lie.
