Perhaps this initial flat-rate offering makes room for a better version down the road (Cash Magnet Plus/Preferred/whatevs, a dark green card in the same style of this one) with a better rewards rate.

  • 2% flat rate, or
  • 1.5% flat rate, with a 25% bonus for at least 20 swipes during the statement cycle

I've already got five. Gonna have to cancel one to apply for another. :(

Same boat. But this card isn't the one to make that happen.

But the $300. Tempting.

Banished to MyFico, You are

If it helps, I wouldn't apply if the SUB were under $150.

We clearly have different thresholds. :)

After you apply, please remember to be ecstatic about the 23.2% interest rate. Only then will you recieve my Kongrats.

More like different realities.

Show me a card that I don't already have that has a good SUB that isn't offset by an AF.

If interest rates on CCs are a concern, my condolences.

"Good SUB" = $150? So everything from the AARP card on up?

Like I said, show me something with a decent SUB that I haven't got already.

Already got AARP. And just about everything else Chase offers that hasn't an AF.

What about BOA? They have quite a few cards with subs. Do they limit the number of subs you can get?

This card is the flavor of the month over at MF everyone and there dog apping for it 300 SUB for $7500 smh Salamanders.

The speaks to why the card isn't a 2% card. Why would you pay 2% when there's a line of id1ots around the block who are willing to accept less?

I was hoping you would show me credit cards, not dog turds.

1. City Crystal: WTF would I want to go to one of their branches to apply? That hassle alone reduces the value of their cheesy SUB to the point where there's higher profit in the AmEx $300.

SUB of 50,000 points @ $0.012 each. Then there's the pesky little issue of the $400 AF. So we have a $200 net gain for a gas-wasting trip to their branch. AmEx gives me $300 for sitting on my a$$.

Rewards are blah. Oh, did I mention the chitty AF?

2. BB&T: Biz Card requires a branch visit and an address in their service area. $49 AF for mediocre rewards. And a SUB which is $100 less than AmEx's. The big question is WTF I would want to live in either Texas or on the East Coast to apply at BB&T.

Surely you can do better, K.

City Crystal offers a $250 yearly airline reimbursement.

It has the most Visa Infinite offerings of any US issued Infinite card, followed by RC and then the others mights as well be Visa Sigs.

Wow! Color me excited!! In exchange for $400, they give me back $250.

Lounges would be nice, but I already have that covered for free. There is Global Entry, but I already have my Get Out of Jail Free card. ;)

In a nutshell, I'm not interested in another AF card unless it provides Barbara Jean on a cold winter night. And go into their branch to apply? Nope.

Besides, the issue in this thread is SUB. Specifically those better than the $300 AmEx wants to give me now.

You're a tough cookie PotO. Aren't you eligible to have fees waived as active duty military? I don't know if City National participates in that practice or not.

Do you have the BofA Premium Rewards card among your 3? That one has the $500 SUB.

Already have BOA x 3.

Is that the max? Without even looking at any of their points cards to see if they are worthwhile, they have 5 cash back cards with $150 SUB for $500 spend: Cash Rewards, Susan G Komen Cash Rewards, MLB, World Wildlife Fund, and US Pride. Edited by nooneimportant

Unfortunately the SCRA doesn't mandate the waiving of AF. :( Some banks, though, such as AmEx and Chase will waive AFs and for that I'm eternally grateful. Most others, including City National, only do the minimum required.

The B of A card was sweet. Now I'm in the process of moving that limit back to my other B of A card so I can close it. I don't want to keep the AF.

I have the Cash Rewards and Travel Rewards already. I will check the others you mentioned as it might be an easy SUB. Not sure what their card limit is, though.

On a side note and not directed at you, NOI ... I'm not saying the new AmEx card is good. 1.5% is not very exciting, but it is an easy *no hard inquiry* $300.
