And there was no place to block this person on the profile. If this is how you all respond to people looking for info and postimg their experiences, what is the point? I see more jokes, bragging, arguing, and squeezing a lemon contests than helpful answers to people’s questions.

I know I have asked questions and gotten almost no answrs. What is the secret to getting answers here, instead of snark?

What are your questions? There are lots of helpful people here.

Look. I realize I’m the outsider here and therefore my comments carry little or no weight. But when someone quotes a comment with literally nothing to say but snark, right from the beginning, how is that helpful? Cv’s snarky response was the first response of any subsance I’ve gotten here (and I made a whole thread asking for advice and have so far gotten almost nothing). That and all the arguing on this forum leads one to believe the folks here are more interested in arguing and telling people they’re wrong than anything else.

If cv were really concerned about helping, why not leave the snark out of it post the reason he doesn’t want people to think it’s ok to call the fraud dept?? His comment was inflammatory at best.

It would also be really nice to find specific, detailed instructions on path a b or c, laid out in order without having to sift through a bunch of jokes, arguing, and urine contests. LOL

We're still talking about me?

Click your name, upper right hand corner, select the one about "ignore." I'm not sure how it works with Tapatalk and the CB mobile skin.

Telling people they are wrong isn't against TOS, but if you don't like CV's comments in general, put him on ignore. Or try to get over it because he helps a lot of people.

Is their an opposite of ignore? I want a special notification when CV posts.

I don't know. Click his name and see if you can see a link that says "find content" or "find posts."

I wouldn't discredit shifter's responses to your thread from this past weekend as not having any substance. I'm sure I'm not the only one that read that thread and had nothing more valuable to add. If you're going to brush off his assessment, then I don't know what you're looking for. But I'll post over there to bump that to the top, since weekend posts sometimes go unnoticed by falling off the first page.

Cv's facetiousness aside, 29 incorrect addresses sounds incredible. I want to know more about this and how you went about the disputes (perhaps in your other thread?).

Thank you. The 29 addresses were a lot of duplicates, variations of the same addresses, relative addresses where I never lived, etc. Some were typos or just a terrible attempt at entering an address. Ha. I never thought to look at my actual personal info on credit reports before - when I looked I found a whole lot of bad information. I disputed the addresses online. It took multiple disputes to get them all. Some would get deleted with each attempt until finally all the bad ones were removed. 11 addresses remain and those are attached to tradelines or just variations of the same address (with or without the condo#).

On my name issues, there were several misspellings and some were just plain wrong. One had my grandparents last name added to my last name which is completely wrong. Some variations had a letter added or a letter missing here or there. I cant imagine how all those misspellings were in my report unless they were the result of people trying to get credit in my name at some point and spelling it wrong. I know for sure someone tried to use my ID for work after I lost the passport and SS card. Notably, I lost those items in a taxi in Puerto Rico and some of the bad addresses were there. There were 2-3 variations for each of 3 different addresses in PR. All in different formats or spellings.

In general I have never used much credit and went for a long time not using any at all. Never checked it, never thought about it. I had some identity theft years ago, and when I realized (debt collectors started calling), I tried fighting it but the tradelines would get sold to other CAs and reinserted so I just gave up. As a result I have lived with crap credit for a very long time. Those old tradelines finally fell off and I still never paid attention to credit. Living without credit had become a lifestyle.

Then 3-4 years ago I ended up in financial hardship (had been taking care of family and literally paying 2 different household bills for 3 years - income decreased and I couldnt afford that anymore) and made some stupid decisions and ended up with some collections. Not much, the highest was $1660. But as we know, a $5 collection is still a collection.

In trying to fix my credit this year I have paid all the damn collections hoping that would help. Obviously it hasnt. Now Im trying to figure out how to correct all this crap and so far not getting anywhere.

One would think that paying what you owe would have a positive effect in your credit, rather than making past problems hurt you even longer 🙄🙄

So the bottom line for me is, I obviously need to fix this crap and just dont know where to start. I have a real need to get my credit report as clean as possible for a job promotion and if my credit is unacceptable to the reviewers, Im screwed. I have spent a lot of time and money getting qualified for this. I dont want to lose it over past problems and just not knowing how to fix them.

And I didnt intend to hijack this thread.

Inquiries almost never matter. Trying to get legitimate inquiries removed isn't just a waste of time, it can also have unintended consequences.

You are just an A$$. What, trying to add salt to a wound. Typical from you. Stay out of this thread.
