New cards? Citi Double cash?

I am thinking about applying for a Double Cash. I have a 50k point mailer from Citi for their Thank you Premier but I had been contemplating the Double instead. Are there any other really good links or portals for better offerings right now?

 

I had also though of Chase or Barclays but I don't care for how finicky they tend to be.

 

 

Current scores are around 750 and 760's. With about 2.3 years AAOA.

What are your credit goals? Are you looking for travel rewards or cash back from credit cards?

Honestly mostly just diversity at this point. I don't churn or really maximize my cards as much as I could or should. But if in a few years there is another down swing where credit gets tight again I figured having a broad portfolio may help limit the devastation. Also to help lower utilization in the meantime as well.

Well, while I waited I ended up going for the Chase Saphire Preferred instead. They gave me a 19k starting limit. No complaints.

Just for diversity, I would definitely go for Chase and Citi. I'd also consider Bank of America and maybe a larger credit union like Navy, Alliant, or Penfed.

Yeah I probably should add a CU to the stable at some point. I joined NASA a couple years back but they turned me down for the card at the time. Penfed would probably be a good option. I may wait and see how this most recent one affects my AAOA first. I think it might put me just under the 2 year AAOA.

There are precious few CU cards worth having. Don't just get a CU card so you have a CU card. Get one that has some unique benefit you will actually use.

 

This is good advice in general, but it's especially worth emphasizing with CUs since nearly all of their cards blow scurries of chipmunks.
