I personally don't think it is a matter of skin color. I think it is a matter of upbringing and knowledge being passed down. I know for a fact it isn't just Black or Hispanic people renting because they can't get a mortgage.... there are plenty of white people who only rent too. It is because in the poorer communities they are not taught the save and plan mentality that previous generations had learned. Out of all these broken homes so many didn't learn the basic fundamentals of economics, banking, and protecting your credit.

My skin crawls every time this topic pops back to the top of the list with a new post. It's one of those topics that, while relevant, discussion is never going to be fruitful or satisfying.

 

Fortunately, it doesn't look like it's going to take long for sensitivities to be tweaked sufficiently for the thread to be closed ...
