Suggestions on a 4.5 yer old Medical bill

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I have a collection on my Equifax for $319 from a surgery 5 years ago. the collection shows 4.5 years old. If I can clear this up it would help me out.

What do you think -- would it be a good idea to contact them and try to settle for $50 or something. If I do what should I do eactly for the best outcome? Would something like this work?

Thanks for any insight you may have.

Additional information:

I was living in Wyoming when I incurred this debt and the debt was from a company/Hospital in Nebraska.

It is now with a collection agency, not with the radiology company any longer.

It is VERY unlikely that this is a valid collection account. JDBs ( junk debt buyers) acquire account data from data miners when a medical account is written off or discarded from a health care provider.

Follow the guides

Once you have opted out and deleted old addresses ( as much as possible) send each CRA ( credit reporting agency) this;

List ALL medical accounts as they appear on the report you are disputing

Come back to THIS POST with your results and for further instructions if you need them. It is more than likely that this account will be deleted from your reports with the initial dispute letter IF you follow the instructions.
