Rogue Posted June 3, 2018 (edited) With several CRA's Frozen, whenever I had applied for a BofA CLI, I receive their vaunted 7-10 message, which is always followed up with a letter requesting me to Unfreeze and then call them. Honestly, BofA is not worth the time and effort for all this nonsense and the poor dolts working there probably don't even realize that existing creditors can pull thru a Freeze or that they are ALREADY pulling a monthly soft on TransUnion in order to provide my monthly FICO Score, but I digress.... Well this thread gave me some hope that maybe BofA had gotten their act together, so I decided to play GP with their new policy and Frozen CRA's. Again I received the 7-10 day notice, but was not sure what I would ultimately receive in the mail this time. And voila....another request to Unfreeze, LOL! Unfortunately, we are unable to process your credit request because you have placed a freeze on your credit report which prevents anyone from accessing it. (Blatant Untruth!) This freeze must be temporarily lifted by you for us to continue processing your request. After you've requested the release of your credit freeze or if you know that one of your credit reports does not have a freeze on it, please call us at 1.866.618.4587, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern with the name of the credit reporting agency that you would like us to use. Just for the sheer entertainment factor, I might just call BofA and inform them that Innovis is now Unfrozen and request that they pull them for the CLI request, LOL! They took me from zero to $80k revolving in just a few months. Of course, I don't have an irrational fear of inquiries, so I just called them whenever I wanted more credit and they said yes. IndyPoolPlayer Posted June 3, 2018 I received the same letter as Rogue did this week wanting unfreezes on all three CRA's before proceeding. It went into the shred bin. BOA is not worth the effort.
nooneimportant Posted June 4, 2018 I decided to give it a go on my Bankamericard with a 0% balance on which I've only been making minimum payments. It was $19k. I asked for $35k and it was instantly approved for $27k. This brings the individual utilization below 50%.

EricDET Posted June 5, 2018 I may have missed it... but what is the time frame between CLI’s with BOA?
bigpoppa09 Posted June 5, 2018 I may have missed it... but what is the time frame between CLIs with BOA? It has been at least 3 months in between for me asking quicker they just send a letter saying to soon.
Rogue Posted June 6, 2018 I received the same letter as Rogue did this week wanting unfreezes on all three CRA's before proceeding. It went into the shred bin. BOA is not worth the effort. With the new BofA soft pull policy for CLI requests in conjunction with the fact that BofA ALREADY performs monthly soft pulls for FICO Scores, I really did not expect to see their ridiculous unfreeze letter again! This makes absolutely no sense if the only pull for a CLI is just a soft pull and based upon all of the empirical data here, the BofA CLI request is now a soft pull, however there are probably a few rare exceptions. centex Posted June 6, 2018 They still have the MBNA influence over there...got my denial and it expressly cites a history that is associated with substantial losses from identity theft. This is the very same thing that cost me some BofA accounts following the merger with MBNA...
mec Posted June 6, 2018 Luckily, I got my last CLI from BofA before they stopped giving out hard pulls for them.

There was no inquiry on EQ or TU for sure, and I don't think there was on on EXP either. I have the Experian app on my phone, and I immediately got a notification the last time I got a hard inquiry. I assume that would have happened again.

I just went through my mail and they sent a letter stating that TU was used. I checked softs on TU and they pulled the day of my request and did not use the previous account review soft pull that was less than a month old. The letter also provided my credit score. Jon77 Posted June 11, 2018 Been out for a while and came back to see this glorious thread. I hit the luv button on one of my BOA accounts, shot for $50k, and it went from $14k to $24,100. Not my biggest, but I'll take a soft pull CLI any day. Thanks for the heads up!

So I'm planning on waiting the normal 6 months, but is anyone going to try sooner now that it's SP? Also note to self, aim too high and hope for a counter in the middle instead of instant approvals for the requested amounts.
